When you click "Report this post to a moderator" the system sends an e-mail to all the moderators and the administrator. PM sends only to whoever you address it to. "Report this post to a moderator" has better odds of one of the moderators seeing it sooner, so we can clean it up as quickly as we can.
And please do not reply into the spam threads. No need to encourage them!

I logged on this morning and saw 16 reported posts and they were all fixed by John, (jharris2). You are correct that GatorGreg has been off for awhile. We still have Dec. 4ROTM. Some of you have asked to help, well I don't have the power to make members moderators. In the mean time, spammers are coming on board, more than they ever have. Sometimes I spend a hour trying to clean up the site.HB 4X4 said:

I just talked to him, jharris2 banned him for posting in a spam thread. Thats rediculous. Like it really matters? That is the stupidest reason for banning someone. I realize its not good to "encourage them" but its not hurting anyone on this site and just a bad reason to ban one of the sites most knowledgable and recognized member.peter78 said:

We are all trying our best to delete the spam as it comes. Whenever a member reports spam, the mods/admins get an email with a link to that thread. Many times, one of us is on it within a few minutes. Even though I am not near a computer for a large part of the day, I get my emails on my cell phone and try to do what I can from my phone (which can be tough at times). Deleting a post takes quite a long time because we have to delete the members posts and ban them. I haven't been actively posting over the last few months because of being very busy with school, but I still do my best to keep things spam free. I can promise everybody that ALL mods/admins are doing everything to keep this place fun and clean.

Please be patient with us. I am now back as an Admin for a short stint. Remember that NONE of the moderators get paid for this PIA job. I had to step down a while back because of such tedious duties. Trust me, without these moderators, i would have retired many moons ago! You can spend hours and hours deleting shit on the forum...and return an hour later to find the same crap. In addition, the mods do not get the Admin screen to MASS delete someone's posts. Therefore, they have to do it ONE BY ONE. Trust me, it is a horrible job to do.
Gatorgreg has been on vacation and has also been ill. Remember, ALL OF US have day jobs.
Gatorgreg is looking into upgrading our software...he has to talk to the guy who owns many forums to upgrade the system. So, it is not simply up to Gatorgreg alone to upgrade this forum. Trust me, both of us have been trying to upgrade this forum version many years now.
Therefore, please be patient with us. Hopefully, this forum will be clean from now on. We will actively hunt down the spammers...hopefully before they even post. However, there will be a few that slip by...so, please just REPORT IT...DO NOT POST IN IT, no matter how tempting it is!
