I thought I seen yours was $800 is that true?
Then add shipping on top of that for what another $100?

I had mine custom made, to what I wanted, not what you think I may want.
I paid less than $700 for mine OTD.
Mine doesnt rattle or wobble one bit..
Mine was done in one day.

The only thing bad about those (other than how far they stick out the back, looks pretty bad) is that they destroy departure angles. I hit my shackle all the time, let alone a massive carrier that sticks out like that.

Exactly why, I went with a local fab shop. Got exactly what I wanted for less and NO wobble or rattles.

YOU GOT ME THINKING,I'M GONNA FIGURE A WAY TO USE THE TIE DOWN RINGS IN THE REAR TO STRAP DOWN THE SPARE.THANKS

I use two HD ratchet straps to the cargo tie down rings crossed over to hold the tire down. Think of it this way, if you can pick your truck up , turn it upside down and shake it.. what would move or bounce around.... make sure that doesn't happen hypothetically and you should be good.

Rear bumper/tire carrier is the way to go if you are going to drop $700 on a carrier. You might as well go all the way for twice as much.

That’s entirely dependent on your priorities.

I was already a C4 Fab dealer and installer when I designed the Ultraswing, if I wanted a complete bumper and swing out there was nothing stopping me. On my 5th Gen I didn’t have any desire to add 250+ lbs to the back of my rig.

For a massive amount of 4Runner owners, that level of weight addition and commitment makes no sense. It’s not about price.

Departure angle loss is 6” total in a straight line compared to a factory hitch.

If your really wheeling hard, and that’s the priority for your rig’s performance over general uses like daily functionality, bike riding, or going fast off-road, than yeah, get a replacement bumper.

Looks like an ok alternative to a new bumper/carrier setup. However like some of the negatives already mentioned, not sure that I want my carrier hitch mounted. Seems like it would have some tendency to flop around and make friction noise as well.

Sounds like the safest bet. Wives also love tire carriers that drop straight down and require them deadlifting the tire up every time they need to access the rear hatch. [emoji106] Just tell them it’s free CrossFit

That’s simple but gets the job done, at least you have a spare. I managed to get a good deal on the Ultraswing from a forum member. I am still waiting to pick it up as he moves cross country but I am excited to add it to my build. The one I’m getting has the Rago plate and the camp table. It’ll be lots of fun next summer fishing with my kids! Plus I’ll have a full size spare (285R70/17 AT3W), which I currently can’t comfortably lug around without sacrificing cargo space. Will update when I have the product.
