Spare Tire Kit?

I did purchase a 04 4 Runner SE. It did not come with the tool to put the spare tire on. I did call the dealer and they want $55 for a little tool that probably cost $5 to make. I am open to suggestions to where I can get one, or an altrernative to put the spare tire on?

I'd push the dealer on that, perhaps go back to your salesman, or go above him. Spare tire and stuff to change it is required equipment - it should have been with it. Just because you missed it at delivery should not close the case. Heck they always rush the delivery once they get us right. Was it certified preowned from a Toy dealer? If so, I think it is on their certification checklist (not looking at it right now, going by memory from our recent trade)

If anything, try a junk yard and see if they have any 4runners out there and see if you can cop it off another one for a cheaper price. But if you got it from a Toyo dealership, then they had better put one on for you. I know all about Toyota's Certified inspection and it is not worth a crap! Before I got the white 4runner, I had a blue one for a few days that was supposingly Certified, but it came with no mats, all 4 rotors needed to be turned due to the jerky braking, and had a big dent in the hatch. That was not noticable until you hit the sunlight just right near the bottom of the hatch. So I told them what they could do with their certified vehicle and went elsewhere. (West Ashley Toyota) Sorry for ranting, but you should not have to pay for that if you got it from a dealer.

Now why would someone take this out of the vehicle, I have no idea. Kind of like when I got my 4Runner, the white one I currently have, it did not have the owners manual in it. I had to get one off of ebay. What in the hell do people do with these books?? Don't they know to leave the thing in the glovebox?? Must want it for a shrine or something..lol!!:biggrin2:
