Spare wheel cleaning...

I pulled out the spare to include it in my tire rotation. The 16" alloy wheel is covered in the stealer applied undercoating. This stuff (hardened tar like droplets) doesn't wash off even with mild effort. I don't want to damage the finish so what do you recommend as a more powerful cleaner?

take it back to the dealer. those knuckleheads are supposed to take out the spare before they spray the undercoating. someone else had the same problem, and the dealer fixed it.
