Spark Plug Wires and EGR Valve

So a few months ago, i was pulling out of a gas station, and when i hit the street i noticed my 95 v6 was running really badly, shaking horribly, and sounding like it was missing, so i took it to my grandpas (he's a mechanic) and we found out that one of the plug wires had been burned threw by the EGR valve. So we got a long plug wire, and routed it around the EGR valve quite a ways, and just tonight ANOTHER wire did the same thing. The set we had on it before was the standard Napa set, i am going to buy a Premium set for it tomorrow, is it worth it? or should i just buy 3 extra long wires for that side and route them all around the EGR?

I don't think Premium wires are going to make a difference when the problem is burned wires.

You need to fix the cause.

What changed for the wires to suddenly come into contact with the EGR, or is the EGR suddenly getting hotter than it should, or ... ?

Ya know i'm not really sure, the only commonality i found is the first time, i was pulling out of a drive, and it was on a slope, and the second time, i was at a stop sign that was on a sloped road, so i'm thinking that it moved it enough and just burned it, i bought premium wires (my dad was confused on why i bought the cheapies to start with) is there anything that i can say, wrap around the wires in that area to try to prevent this from happening again?

I use a wire loom that attaches to the plug wires and that keeps it closer to the engine block and away from the EGR tube.

We got the premium set, and turns out they were longer than the original set we bought, so we were able to cable-tie them to another wire that is about 1 inch away from the egr valve, so i really hope we have put this issue to bed.
