Spark plugs and wires

Thanks Durk. After going through a plug wires change with my Miata I am certain the insulation jacket materials have as much or more to do with their longevity as the wire material itself. The original wires on this 99 'runner must be very well made to last this long without issues.

So, to be sure, which Iridium NGK plugs are you using now in your 99? How long have they been in and what has your fuel mileage been lately?

No, I don't use Iridium, just the OEM dual contact copper plugs (BKR5EKB-11 (3967)). I change every 30k. I just like looking at my plugs every 30k; it's an excellent X-ray into the health of the engine. My fuel mileage is better than most but that is because of the 5-speed. Any difference in plugs is eclipsed by the difference between a slushbox and a stick.

just got my NGK set + wires from amazon, does anyone have link to the thread with a walk through for doing this? I searched but couldnt find the right one.

I know its easy zero banana job, but my first time doing it.

I found I didn't have to move near as much stuff from the right side of the engine and using an extension and a plug socket I got the grip and feel I needed for easy install.
