FWIW I recently pulled these from my '99 with 140k miles. It had Denso's on both sides, so they were probably changed once (plug wires were date coded 1999 though). I found one record for 60k dealer service, so I suspect these have been in there for 80K miles. Gaps were around .060" and it ran just fine.

As an interesting side-note in regards to dual electrode vs. iridium, I had ordered the warning label on the timing cover as I thought I may destroy it while cleaning... This is the new label I received from Toyota:

For the V6 I used stock Denso plugs.

Not surprising they updated the requirement, since as its been stated before, technology has been improved quite a bit in the last ~15 years. Despite that, I ordered some Denso K16TR11 dual electrodes today, since I have no clue how long or what the current plugs are in there currently.

which side of the engine did the Denso's come from and which side did the NGK's come from>????

assuming looking at the engine bay from the front of the car as if you just popped the hood....

NGK passenger side, Denso was on the driver side.

When I got the 96 it had iridiums in. Never noticed a difference going to the EK plugs.

Going to do valve covers soon and I am going to replace spark plugs while I have everything apart.

Are iridum plugs what we need? Part number for NGK's? Thanks.

I have this same question. There’s been some confusion between my TST, Orielly and advance auto as to which plugs to get. One said don’t get platinum or iridium only use copper. The other sold me iridium and I returned them. Finally replaced all copper dual ground and it runs worse than ever. Scan tool showed misfire on 4 originally now feels like misfires on 4, 5, 6, 7, 8... and its only a 6 banger. Any help would be appreciated.

I suspect you've got your wires wrong. The chances of getting misfire on all 8 plugs in a v6 is slim!
