Spark Plugs??

Im running iridium plugs in my 2004 v6...toyota told me it was ok to go to iridium...what do you guys think?? is anyone else on here running iridium plugs??

I agree, iridium plugs are the best.

I just installed NGK Iriduim IX, they were $7.50/plug at O'Reilly. I considered the Denso Iridium Power but I saved $4/plug on the NGKs and the NGKs are on par with the Densos.

I and others have them... They are great, good choice. IMHO it doesn't matter whether you choose the NGK or Denso, they're both great. I happen to have the Densos.

Is Iridium better than Platinum plugs? When I replaced my stock plugs, I went with NGK Platinum plugs. Is there a down-side to the Platinum plugs? Any difference with gas mileage?

The only difference I had seen was, it seems like my idle RPM (when transmission in Park or Neutral), is a bit higher as far as I recall when compared to the stock plugs. Currently it is approx, 700 RPM vs. maybe 600 RPM before.

I am running the Denzo twin tips but after that I going to pulstar plugs.

My understanding is that Iridium will last longer than Platinum plugs. Mileage difference, probably not.

I am using the bosch + 2 plugs. I am a person who likes to find out on their own if something is good or not. Every one keeps saying they are no good so i want to see if that is true or not.

I posted some pics of the oem denso and ngk that went 103k without being changed. I feel the NGKs looked way better than the denso's did and they gapped lower than the densos

I did not know that the v-6 were non platinum plugs until last when i did the 100k service from the owners manual and found out the plugs in the v6 were supposed to be changed at 30k

so far after 300 miles the bosch seem to be doing great..I will pull them and gap check them every 10k to see how well they hold up.

If it were between Denso and NGK ..NGK all the way for me.:guitar2:

The dealer vs aftermarket Densos are the same... The aftermarket allows you to opt for the identical size/heat-range etc. but in an Iridium design which provides for a longer change interval. The MUST change at 30k be replaced aspect is technically correct. The reason? Plug replacement is required for the emissions warranty. The warranty makes no provision (in writing) for the aftermarket Iridium plugs even though there's no technical reason Iridiums aren't ok. They just haven't been documented as 'ok'. When our V6 was emissions certified it was certified with 30k, normal spark-plugs. It hasn't been re-certified or had an amendment to it's certification that allows for Iridium NGK's or Densos.

:iagree: Iridiums tend to be 100k-120k, the Platinums run longer than standard plugs but not 100k. 80k-100k (max) maybe???

I just installed NGK Iriduim and love em- check out my post on the install. I used them due to the high praise many on here posted. Use them, you'll be happy. Good luck.
