I just bought her a few weeks ago & she has 130k miles on the engine & runs good.

I am doing a tune up on my 4Runner she has 130k miles on her & runs strong. I just did the timing belt & water pump last week & I also added a K&N air intake system, Oil change using Royal Purple & a K&N oil filter, Transmission flush with new fluids & now it is time to upgrade the Spark plus & wires :)

Now I am going to do the spark plus & wires but I would like to know what are my best options for gaining better gas millage & also power gain.

I was looking into buying MSD wires & NGK Iridium spark plugs.

What about using Accel wires & a different style of spark plugs ?

I might even go ahead and do the cap & rotor as well but for now I would like to know what is my best options on Spark plus & wires ?

thank you

stick with oem wont see any benefits going with fancy stuff .....these 3.4L have coil on plugs meaning theres no cap and rotor ..... i went with ngk wires from www.sparkplugs.com and make sure you only use ngk or denso Multi-ground plugs

I agree, the only brands of plugs you should consider are NGK and Denso. As for wires, get the best you can afford.

I am curious to know how much did you pay for your 01 SR5? and what state you are in.

thx you if you can share..

I asked the same question when it was time for me to do that service....I paid $32 for NGK wires from autoparts warehouse and got dealer plugs for about $4 each. I have noticed an increase in Mpg.

I use an online site to calculate mpg, the last one I did said 9mpg....after changing it said I got 25mpg about 220 miles to the tank....I also have 192,000 miles on it
