SPC/Light Racing UCA's

So I got my Christmas bonus check and I need help blowing it in a responsible fashion ;):

My current wheel setup wont clear my stock UCA with 285s, and don't really wanna change wheels (and all types of wheel spacers are illegal when you truck wears a Utah plate), and I'm in the process of modding for space up there for when i step my tires up.

So Im thinkin about SPC UCA's. It appears that they have addressed many concerns over the last few years, and that they have pretty good customer service. I like the adjust-ability they have, and the added performance wouldn't hurt me either. This truck is my daily driver, and again Utah with road salt etc, makes a uni-ball UCA less attractive to me.

So, what are your experiences with UPDATED SPC /Light Racing UCA's?
And anybody know of good deals out there?

No problems with mine. Had them about a year. Haven't hit them too hard off road. Definitely cured my drivability with my lift. I paid $378 for mine of off Amazon but now it looks like the price has gone up to $474.
 
As far as I know Headstrong Off-road still has them for the cheapest price anywhere.

Mine worked well while I had them. I sold them to a friend for $100 and he has been happy with them as well.
 
I've only had my on for a couple days but the ability to get my truck into alignment is great. No more squirrely highway driving.

Ouch! I paid ~$527 from toytec a couple weeks ago. Could have saved $150 with that website.

I'll try and find where I ordered mine a few months ago. It took 7-10 days to ship but it was under $400.
 
i really like the adjustability. Helped clear the mild rear wheel well rubbing I had with my 285s & with another mild adjustment was able clear the mild rubbing I had with my 315s (my sig pic still has my 285s). Wouldn't hesitate to buy them again. Great customer service as you mentioned.
 
Very happy with mine - brought the caster back in spec. No problems with them. I got mine back in May from fatbobsgarage for <$400, but it looks like the price has gone up...

Could of got a uniball UCA from built right for that $
 
Had mine on for a few months now, have wheeled with them a bit. So far I love them, and they're hard to beat for the price (paid ~$450). The adjustability is great, and it seems I gained quite a bit more droop with them!
 
How many miles does everyone have on these things? I'm just wondering how long that ball joint lasts. I'd hate to have to replace it frequently.

When I took my UCAs off to sell to my buddy they had a VERY small amount of play in them. I had about 30,000 miles on them, with a couple thousand of miles of fast "overland" style travel on very rough terrain from when I did the Washington Backcountry Discovery Route.

At the time of removal I had no issues getting the truck aligned, it tracked perfectly straight, and the steering was perfectly responsive. I never would have known they had play had I not removed them.

He ordered replacements off of Amazon, and it took us about 15 minues per side to replace them.

That's not bad then. I assume I could probably get 50k out of them then at least since I don't really do a lot of fast rough stuff down here in Alabama. That Washington Backcountry Discovery Route looks pretty cool too, I wish there was stuff like that here down south.
 
I used to run them on my FJ and I now run them on the 4Runner. I like them. I like that the ball joint is quite. No squeaks and the only maintenance you will have to do is replace the ball joints. Not sure how long the ball joints will last, but they are pretty beefcake. I had almost 30k on the FJ ones and they always felt tight. I have maybe 6k on the ones on the 4Runner and they feel good.

I got mine from Metal Tech. You have to call as they are not on the site. I want to say I bought them for $380ish with free shipping. It has been probably at least a year since I bought them.
 
Hi,

there's a thread over at the 5th gen sub-forum about issues with the SPC UCAs particularly the UBJs and the bushings/sleeves.

Are those issues that they're having also applicable to the 3rd gen version of the SPC UCAs?

The ball joints on the SPC arms are pretty robust not to mention if they ever do wear out, they're super easy to change out.

I thought about it but I cared more about the adjustability and lack of maintenance than any strengths the uniball has.
