Hey guys, look what i did ! Took me a longgggggg time, but finally finished up on the box... has 4 Punch 10"s on a Sony 800W mono amp... fits like a glove... check out the plexiglass openings on top of the box... and i also installed Blue LED's inside the box and the back wall of the box has a Mirror for each speaker... cool huh?!?!?!

Nice setup, doesn't seem like enough power for that many woofers though. Sony amps aren't very clean, so a Rockford 400w amp will push those much better and harder than a Sony 800w. Just not a fan of Sony stuff...

But the box looks great!

Very nice:bigok:, the storage area is cool as well. Do you have any specs on making that storage area, been wanting to make one of those.

im with vortec on that one,
i love sony video, but their audio is way under par - i mean wayyy under... switch out that amp for a jl, alpine or rockford amp and you will be much happier

That or you could buy my Autotek amp, 1200 watts of pure subwoofer goodness. Used it as a competition amp but don't have any use for it anymore. Most people haven't heard of the brand, but they make really good car audio equipment.

Autotek huh

Yeah, I used to run a 44 then a Champagne 44. Was only rated at 22 watts into 2 channels but when you bridged it into a 2 ohm it was 340 watts, and 1 ohm, double that, then it was half ohm stable, you do the math. Thing was crazy, I ran it for around 3 years with no problems, then autotek went under and came back after a buyout, same product but cost more now.

NAVY, Are you enlisted? Because your spending on that car like an 0-3 or 0-4 would be able too. Just don't see to many officers hooking up thier cars, their out there, but few and far between.

BTW, I'm jealous how fast your hooking that thing up, I'm also guessing you might be an officer because I don't know of too much enlisted training at PCola.

Hey Navy:
Looks great. I am with the other guys on the sony thing, but I love seeing people do their own custom audio work.

Look for PPI (Precision Power) PCX series amps. They are discontinuing the line and you can get $800+ amps for $300-$400. These amps are far superior to their replacements in my opinion. You may also want to consider grilles to protect them if you are ever planning on carrying any cargo.

I lke the idea of the mirrors and LED's. Do you have any pics looking through the acrylic? Great looking truck, BTW. (your lift pics look awesome!)

Nice work! Happy to see another custom install...happier to see another military 4Runner owner.

I'm sorry, but the sony amp has to go. I am really impressed with the HIFONICS amps that I've got...great price too!

well, it's been a week since i have listened to my sub enclosure, and i would say that it's hard to tell when you have clean , crisp power applied.. i can understand that when cranked, the distortiion becomes evident... however , say at listening to half way, just driving down the street so it's not obnoxious, is most of my listening.... the wife certainly doesn't like it loud IN the car , but if were tailgating or something, it's okay.... that's where you can tell the power difference..... for $119 at the exchange, that is why i got the sony 800 watt amp... but i have seen also rockford fosgates pushing 8 punch 15" at ISACA nationals too... i can't figure out the power thing, i know how to get the ohm's wired right... i just don't want to spend crazy money on this right now... the rims alone were 2 grand.... so, this stuff just adds up quick.... i think i'll do serious research into what i am changing before i buy.... certainly listening to suggestions from people on this web....

NO dude, i am enlisted... i sold my anniversary editiion Harley, my tricked out 400EX and my Dodge Quad cab... had some money left over from the sales when i got my 4Rnr , so i have been installing stuff on it like mad, because i am shipping it to hawaii on Oct 11th... then i am flying out to Pearl Harbor where the CINCHOUSE and i will be for about 3 1/2 years.... i didn't wanna pay mad bucks for shipping for the same thing , just cause it's in hawaii... so... PLUS, NO ONE needs a reason to work on their 4rnrs , but i found a good excused that worked for me... hahhahaha ...

also, i went to aircrew school in pcola , it's part of the enlisted flight training program.... after that i went to whidbey island for EP3E Op school... love flying that bird... good times... good times

Kick ass

Thats cool your representing the E-Club well.

I'm over in Germany I just started a 4 yr tour at Ramstein about 3 months ago, I'm here for a while. I personally drive a little VW and I'm investing my money in making it faster right now, but in a few years I'm buying the wife an X5 or a Benz SUV and I'm taking the Runner over, I will do alot of the mod's as you guys but I'm a lowly E-5 right now with a wife and two kids so money is not my friend right now, every time we start getting close, he runs away to some other guy. Plus the Cola we get here is not enough right now, we are still trying to adjust, 3 months isn't long, but it can feel like forever with no walmart and 7 eleven's or drive thru's for that matter.

Your truck is awsome, your future assignment is awsome, and if you want there are some hella good trails in Hawaii, www.4bangersunite.com is a link to a local Jeep club on the big island and they can tell you where the good trails are. Be careful on those rocks though they will slice a tire quickly.

If you have any questions I just got a fellow NCO who just came from Hickam and he can tell you were the good beginner waves are and the best places times to go catch waves, being Navy you probably already know how to surf, I learned in Gulf Shores of all places so I'm sure you already know, he can hook you uup though it you want.

Whewww, that was alot of thoughts, hope its understandable.

Good luck on the flight, you going out of Travis?
