Special Editions

Ok everyone.. i'm completely new to this forum, and i apologize if this has already been discussed.. tried looking, but haven't found anything on here about this..

Yesterday my wife and I were driving to dinner and saw a lifted Toyota. Thought it was just a Sequioa, but turned around to take a closer look and it was actually a new 4Runner (which are apparently larger). I noticed a badge on the side that said "Altitude Edition", which living in Oklahoma I'm assuming this was a general special edition that Toyota pushed out or a special edition specific to another state, more than likely Colorado. A quick google search hasn't produced anything and looking at Toyota's website, I don't see anything.

Any information provided on this would be greatly appreciated... looking mostly for a site to find this special edition, or MSRP, anything that will get me closer to putting one in my garage.

A quick Google search reveals that in Australia there is an Altitude Edition Rav 4. I couldn't find anything on a 4Runner.

Could be that someone had the badges shipped over and put in place of the "Limited" badging on the side. I had European "Type-S" badging on my tuned Honda CRV. I had lost of people ask about where I bought that "special edition" as well.

Okki

I wonder if it was a dealer specific thing. Kinda like the old Yenko Camaros. The dealer could have thrown on a lift and maybe changed some interior bits and called it their own Granted, I doubt an Altitude Edition 4Runner would garner the following the Yenkos did. Or, like Froggy said, could just be a guy with some stickers and free time in his garage...

whoever modified it, or whatever dealership that took the time to make that edition, did a phenomenal job. I see trucks a lot (especially Tundras) that are Texas edition, or Oklahoma editions with special leather, sound, et al. extras that are pretty awesome. I wish i could've snapped a few pics to post. Without being way to creepy snooping around another man's ride, i noted it was black, had runningboards, lifted.. but not obnoxiously high, custom wheels, grill guard and roof rack. Nothing too crazy, but definitely would fit well for an outdoor enthusiast that doesn't want to go too overboard with modifications.

sounds like you should pick up a 5th gen and make your own altitude edition.

The Trail Edition is available to anyone who can find one, that's about as "special" as your'e going to get if looking for an offroad Toyota. I have to laugh at the people I see here in TX who buy up that "Texas Edition" crap. usually an extra $6-10K for that "upgrade" that is usually worth $1-2K.

Just a Dealer Accessory Package

I saw that at Jim Norton the other day. It's a dealer-installed accessory package (nothing "special", just marketing). It did look nice. It was a black SR-5 with Leather. It had a Revtek 3" lift with Chrome XD Hoss 18's (I think), some 285/ 65 Terra Grapplers, and Westin bull bar . It was $43k. So, about a $7k markup for about $4k worth of work/ parts.

Lol, it would seem to me that the guy at Norton who came up with that would rather be selling Escalades

Sorry, I just despise chrome
