If I understand your question correctly, it seems you are asking if longer shocks are necessary with spacer lifts. I used a spacer lift on my 06 4runner for the last few years. It is the type that puts a spacer on top of the front struts, and a spacer on top of the springs in the back. Since it pushes the whole front spring/shock setup down, you don't need to change the shocks. In the back, you are extending the distance that the shock needs to be able to work with. IMO, you should place longer shocks in the back. I did not put longer shocks on mine, but I wish I would have. Travel was limited in the rear and I regularly pulled my shocks to full extension (luckily I never broke one). I have since replaced the lift with a Toytec 3/2 setup with new shocks all the way around and would highly recommend that. However, if you are interested in a 3/2 spacer lift, I would be happy to sell you mine!
