I am 19 and never worked on an engine like this. I will mostly be doing it by myself.

As of right now I took off the fan cover, radiator, and the air intake. Oil and water is emptied.

1) I took the fan off and now and attempting to remove the belts. How do i remove them? LOL

2)
In regards to this website:
http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/EngineMods/TimingChain.shtml

It says to remove the distributer next, and says its a good idea to have the motor at TDC. Why?

You set TDC again later right? Why does it need to be at TDC to remove the distributer?

Also, when I replace the distributer how do I get it back in correctly?

GRR, Im just confused.

Please clarify cuz im all confused!

Also im replacing my chain cuz its going out and it jumped a tooth. Once the crank is aligned at TDC, I assume the cam will be alignd at TDC too? What if its not? Do I just turn it to TDC by hand?

Im 100% newb and just wondering about that cuz ive never done this and my cam jumped a tooth so im not sure how to make it right again?

Go here for excellent instructions to R&R a TC.

If you're mechanically inclined and can read, you can follow and do this. And with Rogers info you can't miss.

TDC is a reference point for for the crank, TC, cam alignment.
Once you have found it, don't do anything to change it while you're working on it, such as move the crank or cam. Mark the position of the distrib rotor before you pull it and make sure it goes back in the same way.

What if I removed it without marking its direction? Does it even matter? Im trying to think why it would matter? The distributer rotates anyway to change the electrical timing anyway right?

If its off by 1 tooth will it matter?

It's not the direction, but the position.

Yes, it makes a real big difference if the distrib or the TC is off a tooth.

Can you explain why or just correct me lol.
Yes I know its a big deal if the timing chain is off a tooth, I wasnt talking about that when I said tooth, i meant one gear thing, the tooth thing on the distributer
