speed limit in 4h drive mode

Hi all,
I have heard that you are supposed to be under 80km/h when in 4h drive mode. I'm not sure though if you are supposed to be under that speed only when you shift from 2h to 4h and then you can drive faster , or if you are never supposed to drive faster than 80km/h in 4h drive?

Put it in neutral, and be less than 50mph (80kmph) when you engage it. I have taken my 4H way above 50mph, like 65, and I don't think it's done any damage. That being said, if you NEED 4H I don't think you should need to go more than 75mph either. You should be fine, just engage it at lower than 80km/h.
 
Per the manual: you don't have to be in neutral to shift from 2h to 4h; but your speed should be < 55mph while shifting.
 
you dont have to be in neutral, just make sure your not touching the gas pedal going into 4wd or going around a bend.

neutral just ensures that if you do press the gas, you wont get the 4wd thunk.

ive engaged 4wd while coasting at highway speed when i had my 98, but after the FT4WD in my 04 i didnt worry about it anymore :)
 
per 2010 owner's manual page 224: vehicle speed should be reduced to LESS than 50mph(80km/h) before shifting from H2 to H4.
 
What they said ^. No damage will be done driving it at highway speeds in 4H. Mine goes in 4H in Dec, comes out in April.
 
Agree! May shift H4 back to H2 at any speed ; vehicle must be stopped before shifting into neutral(A/T) before engaging L4 per manual

Actually, most of the regulars here take the time to find their own answers, especially ones that are so easy to find. The fact that they are then willing to share their knowledge does not justify your willingness to rely on them instead of demonstrating some base level of competency.

I didn't ask the question. I answered it. And, I don't give a shit what most of the regulars do. I'm sick and tired of you forum idiots telling everyone to RTFM or search. If you don't have anything more to add to a thread why don't you just stay out of the conversation? You're the ones wasting everybody's time, not me.

And, again, in case you missed it. I read the manual - first page to last. That doesn't mean I'm not allowed to pop on here and ask a simple question about something.

Unless it's your server, your software, your site, then don't tell me how to behave here.
