Speedometer off with Gears?

I am most likely about to do an elocker swap with 4.30 gears. If I do this will it throw off my speedometer more or will it read the same. I currently have 265/75's and 4.10 gears. My speedo currently is 1-2 mph off at 80 mph. I am happy with that, but don't want it to get more thrown off. I searched and couldn't find much info.

Its the opposite man, higher gears will take you back on the speedo. But since you are only going from 4.10 to 4.30, it should be back on where you were before the upsize tires.

Actually, I believe we have ABS/speed sensors (the sensor does both functions) and they go by tire revos - not driveshaft or any other revos. I could be wrong, but I remember LINY posting something about that a while back and it made sense. That may be just for the multi-mode models too, I'm not sure. But my speedo seemed to not change at all after my gears and I'm not multi-mode. So AFAIK, only tire size affects the speedo.

It was my understanding that our rigs got the speed indication from the transmission, but when i regeared my runner the speedometer did not change at all. It still indicates about 10% off.

Just write the new speeds on little pieces of the sticky part of a Post-It note and then stick them over the numbers on your speedo. :gun6:

Check out Scuba's build thread over on yotatech. He has a little yellow box or something that calibrates the speedo. I'm not sure if it will work on ours though because if I'm not mistaken, his Taco's speed sensor goes off the driveshaft revos.

i have looked in to this a little bit and found a calibrating box (its been a while so i don't remember all the details) and it went for around 200$. so until i find something much much cheaper \I'm good with doing math in my head.

That makes a lot more sense, with our trucks and all of our dang fancy electronics.

I read through a few builds of people with electronic calibrators, and I recall a few having rogue electrical problems after the install. Ill just stick with figuring out what 107% my current speed is.
