Spent some time with the 99

So I am just hitting the 10 year ownership mark with the 99 and am due for an inspection this month as well. Got a chance to do some maintenance on it this weekend in preparation for the inspection which I will get next weekend.

<li>Change Oil using Mobil Clean 5000 5W30
<li>Toyota Oil Filter Change 90915-YZZD1
<li>Toyota Aluminum crush drain plug gasket 90430-12031
<li>Lube Propeller Shafts Valvoline Part#633 Moly-Fortified Lithium Grease NLGI #2
<li>Lube Energy Suspensions Greasable Sway Bar Bushings using green marine grade water resistant grease
<li>Tire Rotation - Backs put to same side Fronts and Fronts put to opposite side Backs (X-Pattern)
<li>Detail rims front and back when removed from vehicle for rotation
<li>Clean Engine Bay using Simple Green
<li>Clean and Re-Oil Amsoil Air Filter with 0.75oz. Foam Filter Oil AFO-BC
<li>Clean mass airflow sensor, CRC 05110
<li>Clean throttle body, CRC 05078
<li>Throttle Body TRD 'O' Gasket Mod, TRD PTR26-35041
<li>Tighten throttle and transmission kickdown cables
<li>Tighten parking brake including adjusting the cable at the hand brake handle
<li>Wash exterior and detail interior
<li>Replace registration sticker (good for another 2yrs)

Took it for a 90 mile run afterwards and it ran really well, like new pretty much. Hope some of these items increase mileage too.

No exterior pics as this was wrapped up as it was getting dark and it rained the next day. This was primarily about getting some basic maintenance done that I have been looking forward to for some time...and now that I need an inspection it pushed the issue. You can see some pics of a clean air filter, maf and TB using the above links though

Just about to hit the 60k mile mark and wanted to do some basic maintenance. I think the point is that One can do much more than the dealer would do at a typical maintenance interval for a fraction of the cost and know that it is done right the first time. I recently changed the spark plugs and the trans/diffs/transfer cases are all synthetic so that stuff is ok. I will probably do a drain and fill of the radiator fluid (Toyota Long Life Red) and a full brake fluid flush (Motive One Man) in the near future, but what I did this weekend will be enough to pass the inspection with flying colors...

Did you say your truck only has 60k?? That's super. I looked long and hard and just picked up a '99 w/ 68k miles. Just picked it up this weekend and now has 69k after driving back to GA!

Sent my wife to Toyota parts dept this morning for the Red Coolant and Brake Fluid, she just called and said the Red is $27 :bash: for one gallon...does that sound right? I recall paying something like $14 just a few years ago. So I called another Toyota dealer and their price $32 :bash: . Gave her the go ahead so I could get this wrapped up this weekend. Brake fluid was $5 (today each 12oz bottle) and last time I purchased was $2.50.
