SPOD vs Switch-Pro

I haven;t seen any of those 2 systems and just started my build on a TRDpro 2017. I would appreciate any input about pros and cons of those 2 systems including: installation, reliability, maintenance if any, dust/humidity handling.

I have gone through some of the threads related to the 2 equipments.
Thanks for any help.

I use a switch pro and the only reason i went with them was it popped up on amazon warehouse for 290 and I instantly scooped it up..

As far as installation it's super easy. Keeps all the wiring clean especially when installing new items. Since everything is central. Bluetooth connection works well.

Haven't had any issues with it so far..

On a semi related note - how hard is it to get the SPOD cable through the firewall? Is the 36" cable long enough?

I plan on buying the SPOD universal Universal with Modular 6 Switch Panel

Depending where you mount your main module and interior switch panel, 36" was plenty for me.

Not too bad to fish the cable through:
1) Cut a slit in the grommet first
2) Use a metal coat hanger and make a hook at the end
3) I found it easier to push the metal coat hanger through from the inside of the truck and pull the cable through
4) Once you have poked the coat hanger through, use electrical tape to bind the SPOD plug to the coat hanger hook
5) Apply some kind of grease or lubricant to the the tapped up "mound" and pull it through
 
I have Switch Pro and love it. I have module mounted front passenger side of engine bay in front of intake box. Connection with switch module mounted on dash to left of steering wheel no problem. If SPOD is only 36” it wouldnt work with my setup. Also SPOD requires fuses on each power feed as it uses normal relays where the Switch Pro does not with microprocessor control that shuts down power feeds faster than a fuse in event of shorts. O spare fusses needed. And Switch Pro is completely sealed as the circuits are all potted. The Switch Pro is overall more advanced. The SPOD is just a bank of normal automotive relays put together in one package. The SE version of SPOD steps up to similar to Switch Pro but at 50% more cost.

Not sure about SPOD but Switch Pro switch panel can be ordered with different backlight colors and two different mounting options.

My HD SE 8 circuit sPod is easily one of my favorite mods. I can remotely activate my air compressor or rack/bumper lights while camping using their mobile app. Super useful.
 
I guess to further elaborate, I think the SPOD HD is the best value, despite it costing more than the SwitchPro. I like tactile switches, especially when trying to drive fast off road and still hit what needs to be hit.

I know up until just recently the SwitchPro's weren't rated to handle high amperage loads on their mosfets. So things like dual compressors weren't really recommended. They have a new model that can handle it.

That said I just don't care for the soft touch style buttons on the SP setups.

My suggestion is try to play with both before you double down.
 
Under the hood def spod which looks cleaner but I have to say the switch pod cabin looks pretty nice



Thanks for your comment and review of those 2 options. The switch-pro has the edge on the price but I am not a big fan of the sensitive keys. I even prefer the screen of the spod that I can mount on a ram mount. One can probably also install the switch-pro head on a ram mount. I will need to investigate. Most of the switch-pro install make use of a distribution system such as those from blue sea. According to one of the post, the switch-pro does not need fuse. Is that correct?

The power supply to the SwitchPro needs a fuse (included). The individual circuits do not. I think many SwitchPro installs are using the PowerTray combined with a BlueSea terminal block to clean up wiring, avoiding a bunch of butt splices.

I personally am switching from an sPod to a SwitchPro. I really liked the PowerTray setup which allowed for mounting a SwitchPro, ARB Single and a BlueSea fuse box all together.

With my current setup, I had my sPod mounted on the fusebox connected to my secondary battery then all my accessories connected to the sPod to keep wiring as clean/centralized as possible. Unfortunately, the sPod turned off circuits (mainly my fridge) which draw very little power which was less than ideal. Moving to a smaller setup while adding a BlueSea fusebox will solve this.

I'm not super technical, but it appears to me that the SwitchPro is technically better. It's circuits can support higher draw (35 vs 30 amps) than the sPOD, it's weather sealed, it has native Bluetooth support all in a smaller and cheaper package.

This is the reason why I chose switch pros. I will plan to add the ARB single compressor.

I really love my Switch Pros. It was super easy adding my lights and compressor. App controls remotely even 12 hours after turning the car off, great for camping. Change button colors, names on apps, load rating, etc. Location of the switch is perfect with the SDHQ panel. Here are a couple pics.
