Hey guys I have been a long time lurker and now a new owner of a 06 SE runner. I am looking at purchasing the spoiler and was wondering if there has been any experiences with either spoiler depot or any ebay shops. Through searching through the posts I can see that there are 2 different types of spoliers, 1 that is pretty flat to the roofline and one that is raised. I am looking for the one that is raised. Any help will be greatly appreciated and I will post pics as soon as get my digicam back.

Welcome to the Family!

The spoiler was re-designed in 05 to create more air flow down the back of the vehicle, which it does. There are several theads on this subject, just do a search.

You can get an aftermarket "flat" spoiler for around $200 painted, or you can get an OEM "raised" spoiler for about $600 ($480 for the sopiler and $120 for the lamp). Normally I would get OEM but if I can get some good reviews on the aftermarket spoilers I might end up doing that instead and use the $$ saved to get a set of 2006 projector headlight housings.
 
Thanks for the replies guys but I guess what I am specifically looking for is the raised spoiler. If I choose the 05 or 06 spoiler from spoilerdepot will it be the raised one or the flat one like the 03-05 model years? I have already done a search on this topic and it has not been answered yet.

Years '03 & '04 will be flat. '05 & '06 will be raised.
 
OUTRUNNR,

Have you purchased a spoiler from them? I am wondering because the spoiler for all years 03-06 have the exact same part number through spoiler depot.

No I have not. Mine came from the factory. I have no idea which one spoilerdepot is referring to. I was simply stating the difference in spoilers from the factory with regard to the year of the vehicle. The older ones are flat and the newer ones have a raised "hump". My advice would be to call spoilerdepot and ask them whether it has the hump or not...:)
 
Up until 6 month ago when I got my spoiler, spoiler depot only had the flat model. I haven't checked lately but if they have the same model number I'm pretty sure it is still the flat one they are only offering.
 
Thanks for the quick responses! Yeah I don't think anyone carries the raised spoiler aftermarket...:( Well it looks like I am going to have to order the flat one...
 
Does anyone have a good experience ordering a painted spoiler on Ebay ? There are so many folks selling it and I'm hoping a few of you guys in here have bought it from a reputable Ebay seller.

If not there's always spoilerdepot.com.
 
The spoilers with the hump are the ones that are installed by Toyota during manufacturing. You can get the spoilers aftermarket or as a port installed option, but it'll definitely be different than the OEM version.

Check out partznet if you want to try to buy the OEM spoiler.

NOTE: even in 2003-2004, the OEM spoiler was different than the aftermarket/port installed spoiler.

Haha,
I started that thread, it started out so innocent... I have since had the dealer install the spoiler, and got the older-syle without the hump. I'm loving it, it definitely makes the vehicle IMO. Helps the lines out nicely, though either spoiler is an excellent addition.
