so now that ive got these out of the way. if my 2000 runner didnt come with stock running board lights do you have a kit to add them?

doubt it. was that an option for 2000 4 runners? where would i look for this? i looked around them and didnt see anything

As far as I know, 3rd gen 4Runners did not have lighted running boards whatsoever.

im wondering if the housing from a 4th gen would fit on mine. i know id have to do some fabrication but as long as its not extensive id be able to handle it

Somebody post some pictures of just the map lights. I'm trying to decide if I should get some.
Tucson4runner- I think it would be a pain to put the 4th Gen running board lights onto the 3rd Gens. The 4th Gen ones really aren't that bright either. What would you use them for?
You could try and install some footwell lights, which I think would be much easier.

Hmm just to get my hands dirty. No real reason why I would need them. The second you open the doors the light from the led's lights the whole neighborhood.

Is there high interest in that kind of kit? It will require routing wires but it will have instructions regarding the pnp install part!

Count me in! I'll be a tester if you'd like.
I am still working on it! I am using my friend's 2000 4runner. I wanted to use LED strips or something similar to the dome light panels.. the only issues to be addressed are:
1. Do they act with the dome lights?
2. Will they be turned on using a switch? I know it will be too bright to drive with them on all the time!
I have a plan for the wiring but I want to know what manner they should function in! Opinions welcome

i think they should have both! have a switch that has the same options. door, off, and on. possible? also i have pics! i will post a few but if you have any request please let me know i have taken a picture of every possibility i could think of so i should be able to help you guys decide.

sorry my camera isnt the best for night pics but this should give you guys an idea of just how bright these things are. and when your in it its not so extreme that you cant focus on anything else i just dont recommend that you stare directly at them. the colors matched perfectly as you can tell

here are the license plate lights. im going to do what loyal toyota did and put some foil in there so i will post pics of that if it makes any difference. i might even skip that now that i look at the pics these things are really bright all on there own.

1. Yes. Wiring is no problem for me.
2. What's a 'pnp'? I remember pos-neg-pos from my transistor days but I doubt that's it.
EDIT: Disregard: plug'n'play, just got it....it's early.

Just to add a few things to my previous comments:
One thing I was a little unsure about, was where exactly to stick the light board. There wasn't much of a flat surface to attach them to, on any of the lights, but especially on the center one. I think the double sided tape is only touching the two screw heads on the center light. I hope that is enough to hold it in place.
Also, maybe just a quick one-page set of instructions would be nice, for those of us who don't know what we're doing when it comes to this kind of stuff.
(Things like: which sockets to use, where to stick the light board, installation tips, etc.)

Yeah +1 on some simple instructions. That being said I installed mine last night and im super happy. Super bright, they are awesome. Great purchase great seller.
