sport and limited differences

I am going to buy a new 07 4 runner soon and am stuck between the sport and the limited as ive read many other members have been. What are the specific differences in the two? I see the wood trim, running boards, no scoop, roof racks different....

Mainly what I want is the sport with: leather heated seats, side airbags, navigation, 120v power point (whats the wattage on that BTW), the dual air would be nice but its not a nessesity. Past that i really dont know what the differences are.

As for the navigation im stuck on aftermarket vs factory. I like the fact that the eclipse units have good sound quality but i also like the z-1 pioneer units features. Then the whole factory nav pokes its head in with the warrranty issues.

On the sports ive read a post on here where a person said the tube steps would clang allot from rocks. Is that true to where it is a pain or is it just the occasional thing? Also wouldnt a mud flap pretty much stop that?

Feel free to comment on any other issues you would like to bring up because i want to hear all i can since this is going to be another car payment starting up for me. I want to feel like i made the right part decisions and not regret some things.

BTW very nice site. Seems allot like the explorer forum i used to frequent. Lots of useful information floating around.

ETA: I know i will have to special order whatever i decide on and the dealer doesnt have a problem with that so that isnt an issue. I finally found a good laid back non pushy car dealer.

I have just under 5000 miles on my '06 sport and have not heard one rock hit the factory bars. But, I have not taken it off road yet either. (not even gravel).

I just took the regional option package for my unit, but have access to some resources at TMS (my region) and looked at some ordering options. I have seen 1 person on here get factory NAV on their sport from the factory, but I think that was a special "special". I think you are going to have some problems with the factory leather heated seats too, generally not a build option with the sport. And I am very sure about no dual climate control, limited only. I think the AC outlet is a port installed option so that should be OK.

Oh, and the Sport comes standard with XREAS suspension - option on the limited. Trim is different too. Outside the sport has smoked chrome grill and 17" rims where the limited comes with color keyed grill and 18" rims.

Doesn't the Limited also come with a different gauge panel? Something about lighting the needle if I recall...

As far as aftermarket vs factory nav, most aftermarket nav systems have a screen that pops out where the factory nav system's screen is always there, it just folds down to reveal the disc slots. Aftermarket nav system usually come with a hard drive which should be slightly faster access when looking up directions.
 
Yep, the tubes do clang a lot on gravel roads, but does not really bother me. Still the best vehicle I ever owned.
 
I would hear noise fron the tube bars , but not reeal a big deal. I ended up taking mine off anyway......keeps my pants cleaner. I felt they were kind of in the way personally.
 
Yea i know what you mean about stepping over the bars. I have the running boards on my explorer and the only time i use them is when im washing the roof.

The hood scoop, rack and tube steps were my main reasoning for getting the sport because i like how it looks and think its adds allot to the 4 runner. Mostly the hood scoop though as i could do without the others if i could get that on a limited.

Ive decided aftermarket nav will be my route but im still thinking about which model. I wish i could get a good sub that wouldnt take up any cargo room because thats another gripe i have with my explorer and my 1 cu ft box in the back. Then i started thinking about the pioneers amp which is only 22 watts rms per channel if i remember right and i dont know how well that will sound with some higher end speakers. I have an alpine v12 amp thats 75 per channel rms but then i would have to find a place for that too.

Too bad they dont have a 3d virtual car that we could explore around to see how things looked and would fit before buying them.

Kind of an off topic question but can someone with some free time measure the length from the back of the front seat to the liftgate wall. I have a starlight hard rifle case that is about 56" long and i want to see if that will fit.

The local toyota dealer said they have about 40 coming in soon starting this week so now ill have some more to look at.

does the 6 disc changer in the 06 have bluetooth?

My dad just got a cellphone with bluetooth, and I thought I remember reading somewhere that the 4Runner 6 disc in 06 had bluetooth.

But i don't see it in his manual anywhere.

Not even for the Nav models.
 
From what ive read the bluetooth is a seperate option you can add.

- Has anyone had and luck with asking their dealer to swap a hood with a sport for a small price? Im starting to think i want the features the limiteds have but i really want the hood scoop even though it isnt functional. :cool:

- How does the rear air suspension effect everyday driving or is it pretty unnoticable?

- Does anyone know the power rating on the 115v accessory outlet?

I have the air on my 04, about the only time I ever really 'notice' it. Is when I either just shut if off or just started it up and it activates.

When you shut it off, and get out of the car. You can see the rear go down some.

Sometimes I've noticed sitting on a steep hill at a light. It will try and compensate for the incline.

other then that since I don't tow. I really don't notice it much.

No, the 6 CD changer doesn't have Bluetooth. The only non-nav Toyotas with Bluetooth integration are the '07 Camry and yet to be release Tundra (according to specs).

Navigation for Toyotas have an additional manual for the nav system. The regular manual, if I recall doesn't mention anything about nav and its functions. For 2006, Bluetooth has been added to nav and it's a 4 CD changer.
