Sport Edition Emblem

I'm not one to start a new thread, simply to start one, but before I go pay top $ to my local dealership I thought I would give it a shot. I'm looking for a set (drivers side/and passenger side) of the "Sport Edition4wd" Emblem that can be found on the 4th gens.

I have a 3rd gen SR5, but I really like the look of these emblems on the doors on either side of the truck. I've PM'd a few 4th gen owners who have de-badged theirs, and I realize its difficult to get these off, so they don't always survive the mod, but i'm curious if anyone does have a set of these they'd be willing to sell?

Thanks in advance

(Forget who's ride this is, but it's a sweet looking rig)

Have you checked ebay? I know they have limited and hilux surf emblems.

Try posting a WTB in the classified here and on toyota120.com?

Seems like there would have to be a ton with all the debadged runners, they're also really not hard to remove if you have a hair dryer.

Tried ebay, didn't find any there. I'm not familiar with the t120, i'll have to check that out. I was going to put a WTB in the classifieds, but I figured the emblems are 4th gens specific, so i'd start here first.

It does seem like there's alot of 4th gens running around clean, so I figured these things must be laying around in garages somewhere. And being I plan on painting them anyway, i'd rather pick up a set of used ones, and maybe throw some coin another members way, before going and buying them brand new from the dealership.

Did you price those at the stealership? If so, I'm curious, how many sheckels do they want?

You do realize that these are INDIVIDUAL letters. Not one piece (at least on mine).

I'll see if I can find them.

Badges

Why not go with a custom badge and make your 4Runner a little different? I am looking at taking my 4Runner badge off my tail gate and doing a custom billet badge. I've seen others here with custom badging and they look great. You will pay more than some left over SE badges, but it gives you a nice subtle customization. Do a search for custom badges. Just a suggestion. Good luck!:boxer:

I just PM'd you. I have them all - just debadged a few weeks ago my 04. All came off intact - no damage.

Do you mean "Sport" is one piece, "Edition" is one piece, and "4WD" is one piece -- 3 pieces total per side of the vehicle?

They are all individual letter and getting them back on and straight is a real trick since I've rarely seen them put back on properly and if they aren't perfect it really shows and looks awful.

With the exception of "Toyota" on the rear hatch, every letter for SR5, Sport Edition, Limited, 4Runner and 4WD are individual letters on the 4th gen. Sport Edition is the only with smaller font letters for the rest of the trim name aside from the S and E.

How do these attach to the sheet metal? Are they glued on?

So if you were to buy new ones from the dealer are they "peel and stick"?

If they are glued on, and you are attaching used ones to your doors, what adhesive would one use so they would stay on?

Thanks in advance!

They are held on using that grey double sided adhesive tape that is used for ventvisors and most other accessories that stick to your car.

I believe they come with that tape from the factory from the look of these:
eBay Hilux Surf Emblems which are stuck to the glossy anti-stick paper.

I was thinking I would re-attach them using some sort of liquid adhesive, so it gives you some wiggle room to try and get them straight/square before they set up.

Stevie (posted earlier in this thread), has a very nice set of them, that I was going to purchase, but have decided not to based on some of the comments in here regarding getting them straight/square during re-attachment.

I still think it could be done by somebody who is good with doing things like that, unfortunately i'm not, so i've decided to hold off and maybe do something different in the future.

If you want a nice set of letters, pm stevie above.

the 09 Trail Edition also has the Large T and E and smaller *rail and *dition
lettering and they are also connected. "Trail" and "Edition" are only two castings.

I think "Urban Runner" is done the same way, but can't speak positively.

Emblem-less?

Howdy,

I am obsessively researching what will be my first T4R purchase! I found an 08' sport that has the hood scoop, tubular running boards etc, but no emblems on the side or rear...Did some come this way?

Please advise, thanks!

They are easily removed .. Or someone went thru the trouble of coverting a SR5/Limited with SE accessories.

What ZebRuaj said. It definitely had badges when it came from the factory.

I know some Sport Editions have different seats than SR5/Limited as well (I know mine does). For example, the black cloth with a kind of checkered pattern is exclusive to Sports (someone chime in if I'm wrong). Just not sure if ALL Sports have different seats or only some. So you could possibly check that to confirm what trim it actually is. Also, if it has X-REAS it's probably a Sport (could be Limited as it was an option on those as well).
