You can add as many as you want. just have to take the end caps off to be able to slide them in. I would assume all 4th gens would work but I have not seen a good example or true evidence to confirm. I would be doubtful the 5th gens would work just because of the redesign and overall size of the racks. There are one or two guys on here that have RTT on the standard sport racks with no additional support. A majority of people either upgrade to a aftermarket crossbar, or you can adjust the frame on the base of the tent to run longer in the width and let it rest on the side rails rather than the crossbar.s

Mine is mounted to the stock rails. The cross bars are to weak to mount to.

All 4th Gen have the same luggage rack and the cross rails are the same with the exception of the Sport models which have a tublar rack side rails which is different from the normal rack so the cross rails I would believe are different but do sorta look similar so they could be the same.
Not sure on the 5th Gens.
Check around at savage yards for a rack to get the cross rails off of.

I would just mount to factory siderails versus messing with more OEM crossbars.
I make and sell a RTT cross load bar kit that mounts to factory rails if you want the RTT mount channel to orient front to back on the roof. Simple solution and only 4 bolts to remove tent with load bars once you get it setup.

I left mine in place. They pushed up slightly on the rtt and I figured it helped some.
Rented a RTT to test out. Had to mount it opening over the rear, as that’s how the rails on the RTT were already oriented. Noticed after I got home my driver side rail looks slightly “crooked” compared to the passenger side. Not sure if it already looked like this, or if the rail didn’t like the load so close to the roof mounting bolts. Any thoughts? First two pics are driver side, 3rd is passenger.

The cross rails are way to weak, ill be doing as above with my stock rack for now. I've done a bit of research and no way i trust the cross bars for a heavy tent+wind

I know this is a bit old but, the crossbars (4th Gen) for the limited/ sr5 are just a bit longer than the cross bars for the sport. The SR5's are about 1-1.5 centimeters longer than the Sport versions
I found this out the hard way tonight...

Could someone be kind enough to measure the inside to inside dimension for a Sport Roof rack? I need to make some parts for one tomorrow, but don't have a sport rack readily available. I know it's more narrow than the other style, approx 39.5" if I had to guess. Thanks if anyone can help (I've searched a bit and can't find it)
