Sport vs. Limited Package

Sport has shaded chrome grille & headlights, XREAS, 17" sport wheels, & hood scoop as far as I know. The '03 sports had larger brakes but I think the 06 up limiteds also had larger brakes.

If you plan on wheeling hardcore you may want to got with the sport for the smaller wheels (unless you can fit 16s on the '06 up limited) so you get more sidewall to flex (and cheaper/more diversity in tire choice).

The 18" wheels on the Limited are really nice, look great with some meat on them. The leather is a nice upgrade too. Basically the real reason most people get the sport is the hood scoop.

:iagree: Those 18s are nice...

Also, meant to say the 06 up sports also have tubular roof racks and nerf bars.

I agree that the hood scoop is the sweetest component of the Sport. It should have been standard on all Runners.

also the limited has dual zone climate control, I think its a great feature that should have been an option on the sport model-

I agree with the notion that the Hood Scoop is a main-draw to that particular model, but the XREAS suspension with a AWD V8 is a perfect combo.

One of the let-downs of the 5th gen's (IMO) is the lack of the V8 and the no XREAS on the Trail Edition, but standard on a Limited.

And before someone here chimes in with the whole "the new V6 puts out more torque" blah blah. I dont want it, thats why I didnt buy one. When they put the 4.6L from the Lexus into the Trail, i'll be the 1st one in line.

Our '03 Sport Edition has the running boards on the sides while i think 06+ have the tube-kind. I could be wrong tho.

I agree, before I bought my used limited v8, I gave the 5th gen a chance. I went back to the used v8. It is just quieter and smoother in my opinion. Even when test driving multiple 4th gens with v8s and v6s, I had to go with the v8.

Is there anything the Sport package has that the limited does not?

Looking at an 07 limited. I will be wheeling this vehicle.

got my sport for the upgraded brakes..hood scoop...and diff interior...

correct me if im wrong...but if youre gonna be wheeling this vehicle...shouldnt you go with a sr5 just cuzz it doesnt have all those suspension components that will complicate a lift?

the xreas really doesnt complicate things if your gonna do a lift, its just removing it. Also the SR5 is pretty bare bones IMO, none painted mirrors, spoiler, etc

Only the Sport has the larger brakes - 13.3" vs 12.6" http://www.top4runners.com/runhist/4thgen/2007specs.pdf

stupid question here but how do i tell if I have xreas? I have an 08 limited and I think I do because it seems to really make an effort to stay level when cornering rather hard.

I want to know where I can see if I have the larger brakes.

Seems odd that if you have the V8 and can tow 7000lbs that you wouldn't automatically have the larger brakes.

Turn your wheels all the way to one side and look to see if the front struts have a bottom connection to a hydraulic line. The rear shock hydraulic connections are on the top. Also, limiteds that got the package had the rear leveler so you will have a on/off switch for that by the center arm-rest, I think.

Many members here have the '06 up limiteds with 13.3" brakes, I believe it was a special option

I hope so, I've been trying to look for a conversion on my '07 Limited V8. It's strange the the specs say "Sport Only". Another point, is when I try to search for aftermarket rotors and I fill out my vehicle's info, I end up with the 12.6" part number? The sport always gives the 13.3" part number. I'll try measuring it.
