sports car?

My friends in his 3rd year of college now and is relying on me to provide him with a really good sports car. He would like a 2 door vehicle but woul like to stay away from American Cars! His price range is anything up to 25,000-27,000. Thanks for your help! V-6 is a must!

Well Toyota is absent in this market. Nissan has the Z in that price range and Mazda has the RX (I think it is still called that).

Not a whole lot to choose from unless you go up in price and go european or go american where there is a good selection.

Aren't they many thousands more than the $27,000 upper limit he posted? I thought they were around 33k to start.

How about a used E36 M3? It's not a V6 but an Inline 6 and still kicks ass. You can easily find good conditioned ones for less than $25K. The same can be said for used Supras.

While I know they are sports cars I really can't get past the 4 door thing. The EVO and the WRX are very competent but look like factory ricer cars.

E36 M3 your looking at expensive maintenance soon, plus not real fast. Upgradeable definitely, but then the mainentance thing kicks back in.

EVO/STI do look like out of the box rice, but you could pull the huge wing off, and give it more of a sleeper look.

S2000 is super fun, and reliable, and upgradeable, with a super charger preferably.

I drove the new Miata at the zoomzoomlive event, and it was fun but I think the S2000 is still a better choice. The miata had way too much plastic for interior, but that's common for mazda.

Supra would be cool, but old, and pig like, but can be big time fast.

RX-7 if you want to deal with Apex seal issues every 40k miles or less. Very fun car, I'm a little biased though.

You could look at older S4's but again it's a maintenance issue so pay now or later.

You could look at older 930's, but again maintenance. I've actually been looking at these, and you can find some in the mid to upper 20's.

It all comes down to what he wants. There is a ton of shiat out there. Good Luck.

I looked at it yesterday at the state fair, and it's pretty nice, but it's not a sports car. It does have a nice look though, with a not so nasty price tag.

so true. my brothers old roomate had one for about 1.5-2 years and everytime it went into the shop, he came out with a $1000+ repair bill damn near everytime. he finally sold it after he spent a fair amount on maintenance costs.

there was a recent car and driver that actually had the top 20 or so sports cars for under $30,000. Some were:

1. Mazda RX-7 3rd gen
2. GTI VR6
3. Mazda Miata
4. Subaru WRX
5. Toyota MR2 Spyder

2003 Subaru Impreza with the 2.0 227HP H4 engine

i know the WRX starts at like 24,000. I guess yall dont like Supras either? Mercedes(2002 s430 AMG($31,000)) also should fit his criteria.
