Spray can or paint brush bed liner for armor?

Hey everyone

For sliders, skid plates, bumpers ( I will have a hybrid bumper soon), etc;
Would you suggestion a spray can bed liner, like rustoleum, or a bucket you brush on, like duplicolor?

I would think spray may be easier, but waste more.
And the brush could be faster, but messier. Also more cost effective per sq inch


So, any experience? Thoughts?

Personally, I wouldn’t use bed liner for skids, sliders, or bumpers.

On skid plates, bed liner will only make it harder to move forward over objects that you get high centered on. I’d use regular spray paint or powder coat with spray paint to touch up.

Sliders are known to catch pant legs, the rough texture of bed liner could damage clothes or scrape your calf when entering/exiting the vehicle. This also goes for bumpers, if you bump up against bumpers with bed liner you may catch clothes or skin. Paint of any finish will be more forgiving.

Just my thoughts and experiences with both painted and bedlined armor.

Regarding spray vs roll-on bedliner, duplicolor spray bed liner coats well but is not as durable as a roll on product like Herculiner. Herculiner is harder to touch up though, so if you’re actually using the armor I’d stick to something that can be easily touched up with a rattle can.

I used the spray on for my skids, it scrapes off just fine from rocks. I wouldn’t over think the skids and sliders given their purpose, whatever is easier since you will touch up anyway. If spray on is good for Antman it’s good for me!

I would think it would be hard to get full coverage in crevasses with a brush but then I’d also be lazy and just pay for powder coating.

Great point with catching on clothes. I don’t want to spend a bunch of money on powder coating and have it scraped off. So would you suggest a tougher paint instead of bed liner?
