Spring compression tool or not?

You shouldn't need to undo the panhard bar at all, just the shocks, e-brake cables, and sway bar.
I hope people are replacing their panhard bar when they lift the rear end. It not 100% necessary but you're looking for problems in the future, first your rear end will not track correctly and look off-centered, secondly if you do any wheeling you can run into the problem of the rear shock mount bolt possibly shearing off because it not tracking correctly.

Check out the second paragraph: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panhard_rod

also look up this topic on this site and yotatech. Its talked about a few times.

The problem is the the whole front strut assembly comes out as one piece. Once you get it out, there is a nut that screws on to the top of the strut, holding the strut cap in place. If you try and undo this nut without compressing the spring first, the strut cap will go flying across the floor once that nut gets loose. Also, when installing the spacers or longer OEM coils, you have to compress the spring when putting the assembly back together or you won't even be able to get the strut cap back on.

OH! Very helpful! thank you! Well I guess now I have something else to worry about if I get that lift!

I am going to ask my auto teacher if he has one. He has everything ever... I swear...

"Do you happen to have a spark plug cleaner from the 1970s? YES!"

"What about a 1992 Toyota Pickup with 16 miles on it? YES!"

This guy is ridiculous...

No to bee too far off topic but I was just reading all this and I have to say wheew! I'm glad I bought sway-away coilovers for my front lift.

not much people can or want to afford adjustable coilovers. big price difference, spacers vs. coilovers. i would've loved to go adjustable but hawaii's reconstruction law had banned adjustable coilovers.... but then i found out they had revised the law to allow this after i had purchased my set of ome's. oh well, not disappointed tho.. i'm more than pleased with ome's.
