Spring/Shock Install Safety Question

Wanted to get an opinion about this.

I'm going to attempt install of Bilstein 5100's and FJ coils on rear only this weekend. I'll disconnect XREAS at rear shocks. My plan was to take it to a local shop for front install after (I don't want to do spring compressors, etc).

My question is: Can I safely drive 5.4 miles from home to the shop safely with disconnected front XREAS shocks?

Not a terribly bumpy trip, just some hills.

You could take the front to a shop and have them assemble the coilover then put it in yourself and avoid doing that.

I'll be around this weekend.....if you feel like driving to Conway we could get it all done. I've moved and got a garage now, and should have all tools we need (no power/air tools, but enough to get the job done).

To answer your question, YES, you can drive it safely to the shop. XREAS is designed to prevent lean on turns and does it affectively, but the coils and shocks minus XREAS can handle your T4R with no problems to get you to your mechanic/shop. Just don't go doing any Mario Andretti impressions on the way.

Thank you Preach, I may go with my original plan because of timing (shop is only open M-F and I was going to start the project this weekend).

I don't mind at all, I should be free both days. We could do the whole front, no need to have them pre-assembled. We should be able to do it without spring compressors, but I have them if needed.

Alright man, want to do Saturday AM? I'll attempt the rear tomorrow night, if I'm unsuccessful maybe we can do that too, it looks really easy as long as I've got the arm strength.

Yea, that sounds good. We can do it all Saturday if you want, that way you're not driving with XREAS disconnected. The rear is the easy part, shouldn't take too long there.
