Squeak / squeal from under passenger seat.

I have a 1999 Limited.
There has been an annoying squeak/ squeal noise coming from the interior. I pinpointed it to under the passenger seat. The squeal is constant when the car is on. It does not react to the HVAC system being on or off. It squeals whether the car is moving or still, but changes tempo now and then.
It seems to be coming to the round thing that looks like a fan cover on the floor under the front passenger seat (white, plastic, round grill thing).
Any ideas what this is and how to fix it?

That's the blower for the rear heater in the center console. Try turning the fan off by putting the rocker switch on the back of the center console in the middle position. The fan runs independently of the main HVAC controls.

Is that a limited trim thing? I don't think by buddies SR5 has that? He has the rear air right there, but I don't recall seeing any controls.

It sounds like a dirty fan. The switch on the back of the center console controls that fan. On my SR5 it is heat only and has a temp. control.

No, mine's an SR5. I'd look again. I think, (but am not sure) that if you have rear heat at all, you have a fan switch and a temp control on the back of the console (on the vertical face seen from the rear seat by the rear cup holder). It is heat only, no 3G's have rear A/C.

That said, SR5's have different interior and exterior trim levels. Mine has factory leather, rear heat, power mirrors, sunroof and remote entry but no alarm.

Well he's pretty far away these days but I'll give him a call. I'm pretty sure he has two little vents on the back of the center console, and I'm pretty sure cold and hot air comes out of there depending on what the main HVAC controls are set to. I'm also pretty sure he has no switches back there. I will post back with an update when he calls me back.

Actually, now that I think about it. I don't think he has any vents back there. I think I lost a bet with him once about it. I must be thinking of my 4th gen. Sorry to waste your time guys.

Yup, it was the blower fan for the rear heat. It was set on "low" and I had not realized it. The squeak stopped when I turned it off.

There was a mouse under there, too, but it was quiet.

I sprayed the fan with compressed air, which did not help the squeak. Any ideas on how I might clean/lube the fan without removing the cover? I don't want to tear too much apart to fix a squeak.
