I have a 99 super charged 4 Runner. It has started making a metal? like squeaking noise that seems like it is coming form the drive train. It speeds up with speed. Im think I may check the rear diff fluid. Any help would be great thank you.

Pull your wheels and check your brakes. The front disk pads will always drag and if they are worn down you will hear metal on metal. Do you notice metal dust on your wheels? You can also look thru the spokes of your wheels and see if the disks have gouges worn in them. looking at the inside is a little harder.

My brakes have about 10k mi on them. I had someone listen to it while it was rolling and it's coming from the back. I'll check my u joints tomorrow. If they are factory do they have grease certs?

yes, they should have zerks on them. If you have a 4wd there are a total of 8 zerks on both drive shafts combined. Sounds like the same thing that happened to me. I just went through replacing my rear u-joint after neglecting to grease it up like the owners manual said too...

Thanks I saw where to grease. As soon as I can borrow my buddys grease gun this weekend im going to try it. I notice it seems like it does it when it is under acceleration. I shift to neutral and it goes away.

I greased the u joints and no difference in noise. I'm gonna put it on jack stands tomorrow and see if I can tell from underneath with it in drive.

have someone check your ball joints. had this happen on a suburban and the ball flattened out and you could pull them apart once i replaced them
