SR5 Or Sports edition?

I though that i bought an 2004 sr5 but when i got my insurance paper it said it is a sports edition, i thought all sports editions had hood scoops?

how can i tell if i have an sr5 or a sports edition?

Sounds like your insurance company is incorrect, and you probably should double check that since the Sport Edition is more expensive you may be paying more you should.

Sport Edition has hood scoop, black cloth.

The SR5 and Sport Edition share the same 7th digit on their VIN numbers. If you have a 4 as your 7th digit, it is either an SR5 or Sport Edition. My insurance lists my SR5 as an SR5/Sport Edition. This doesn't mean you have a Sport Edition, just that the VIN's for Sports and SR5's use the same trim number. Limited's have a 7 as their 7th digit.

Easy way to tell is if you have a telescoping steering wheel. That is not available on the 2004 SR5.

Another tip off is if you have the XREAS system. Take a look at your shocks and see if there is a tube (looks like a brake line) coming from the top of it.

the badging says sr5 and i have no xreas or telescoping streering wheel so i would say i have an sr5 . thanks for the help

Yeah but some people change emblems so you can't be 100% sure of that. Also people have swapped hoods so that can't always be depended on.

All 4th gen Sport Editions come equipped with XREAS.

Can you not get painted mirrors on a 4th gen SR5 as part of some upgrade option package? My 3rd gen SR5 came with them as part of an option package.

I don't think you can, Greg. To this day I haven't seen that option for the 4th gen Runners. I've heard some other users take their black mirror housings to a 3rd party paint shop to get theirs color matched/painted. I was thinking of it myself or perhaps ordering a painted set. I guess the cost and work would have just turned me off to it. It would be nice though.

Yes you wouldn't have had to order XREAS because it is standard equipment

Either that or you got an SR5 that somebody threw different badges and a hood scoop on

That's interesting. Unpainted mirrors would be nice to have off-road especially on some of the skinny jungle trails we have here in Fla.
