SR5 rear seat carpeting

First of all I want to thank everyone for the valuable info on this site. I've actually been lurking on here for a couple of years but never posted anything.

I'm in the market for a new vehicle after 12 + years with my current 4runner.

The problem I have is that I've checked out two on the lot and when folding down the rear seats, both have hard plastic backs, no carpeting. After looking at the picts people have posted on here I have not been able to find a single 4runner with the plastic back. Both vehicles do not come with 3rd row seating nor do they have the sport seat upgrade.

Does anyone know what's up with that? Anyone have an SR5 that doesn't have carpeting behind the seats? It seems odd that they would make some with carpeting and some without. I want to make sure I get the carpeting on the back of the seat because I often fold them down for my dog. She loves the space back there.

My SR5 10 came with 2 rows of seats as requested (has sliding cargo tray) and has "carpet" on the backs of the second row seats. It is not thick carpet, by any means, but it is not plastic for sure.

Same way for me. Do the ones you've looked at have the Premium Package (Heated seats, Leather, etc). Maybe it's part of that.

I'll tell you this: that carpet is nothing to brag about. Sure, it's not hard plastic, but getting it clean is a beotch, stuff sticks in it. No dog here, but I'd think dog hair would be a real pita.
 
I agree with you 100%. Sometimes when vacuuming, it is easier to just pick stuff out of the "carpet" in the back with your fingers.
 
Yea, that's it. Thanks for the link. I cannot believe they skimped on such a high-end vehicle! That alone turned me off of the 4runner while at the dealership. I was all set to go inside and order the one I wanted but when I saw that I got pissed. What are they thinking?

Guess I'll have to wait until they actually have the one I want on the lot before I purchase one as I want to make sure that it has carpeting - even if it's thin.

Thanks for the responses. I'll repair a few things on my 98 and wait until the right one gets delivered in the area.

Anyone here have seats that are not power adjustable and have carpet? I'm trying to figure out what option adds the upgrade. I do not need nor want power adjustable seats. Hoping that the non-powered seats takes the carpeting away.

I'll check into the convenience package and see if that adds the carpet... though it may be tough to find that one out.

And no, it's a 4x2 & 4x4 thing. I have not seen a single 4x2 up here. The two vehicles I've seen the inside of are both 4x4.
