SR5 suspension

What are some opinions on giving my '97 SR5 a 1" lift or so? I was thinking of getting the 1" lift springs from Performance Products just to make my 4Runner sit a little higher. I know some people think lifting a 2wd truck is about as cool as putting a turbo on a Dodge Neon, but I just want it to sit a little higher. If there are any better ideas let me know, I'm not out to spend a fortune just to make it sit higher.

Here is how it looks right now:

(note the little piece of electrical tape covering a bb size hole in my passenger side headlight... the perfect excuse to upgrade to the multireflector headlights )

Have you tried bigger/taller tires?? This will also avoid CV joint problems associated with lifts.

BTW, have you seen the latest Dodge Neon SRT-4?? It will put many cars to shame....:

MSU4Runner, nice 4Runner & I got your private message. Your truck looks a lot like mine.

I am wondering if the CV joint problem would be the same concern in just a rear wheel drive. I would think the steeper angle for the CV joint would be in the front on a 4WD.

My tires are plenty big for the truck, they are the same 265's that come on the 4WD Limited, but I got some Michelin's. Those Performance 1" springs are just made to correct the sag that 4Runner suspension tends to do after several years.

And yes, I have seen that Neon and I am ashamed to admit that it has 230 HP... thus putting most of our 4Runners to shame. But still, it is a NEON... who wants to drive that? Perhaps I should have used a better metaphor....
