Same here.........but I just can't bring myself to spending the money on 7" wide rims. I love the LE's factory rims, but Toyota really screwed the pooch on the width.

I really love the style of the Limited wheels, but 20", no thanks. If they made that style in an 18", I'd run those in the summer and the stockers in the winter.

I'm not sure how good the SR5 wheels will look powdercoated. The machined finish really looks great when clean. If you painted or powdercoated them, I think they'd look dull. They wouldn't have that machined shine.

I have some wheels at powdercoat as we speak. They are the 17" FJ alloys, but they look fairly similar to the SR5 wheels and I will be sure to post some pics and hopefully at least it will give you guys an idea of what it could look like and hopefully some inspiration. Should have pics by early next week.

Thats because most people pick terrible colors and cheap out on powder coating. I am going with a three stage metallic color with a clear coat so it will have a great finish to it. Most people only do a single color with no clear, so it just looks flat and dull.

Just got my FJ rims back from powdercoat. I went with a flat black. No real pics yet aside from this camera phone shot in my garage:

I think the FJ wheels will look nice powdercoated. They are a cast wheel without the machined blades that the SR5 has. I've just seen other wheels with the machined face that really shine from that raw metal look but lose that surface finish when paint or powder goes over it. I'd love to be proven wrong w/ the standard SR5 wheels being powdercoated a color to match the wheels that come on the Lexus IS-F, but I'm not holding my breath. They'd definitely need some polish work done after the clear to have the same sheen.

It is kind of wild what sorts of colors you can get now with powdercoating. My friend had a bunch of his steel road bikes (Waterford) powdercoated in the past few years and they all look amazing.

The FJ wheels do have machined faces on the spokes, just like your SR5 wheels. They are painted between the spokes and around the rim. Then the whole wheel in clearcoated for protection.

How much did the powdercoating cost? I have a set of the same FJ wheels that I might want to powdercoat.

I cannot speak for the wheels above, but mine were pricey. I took them to a really nice shop that all the porsche and bimmer guys love around me. It was around 40 prep per wheel, and then it will be between 80-100 per wheel for the powder process, but that is because I chose a 3 stage process (layers of colors) and a clear coat to protect it all. But generally you can find around 70-80 per wheel for both prep and powder at most places for a single color.

What color did you go with?

"Thundercloud Metallic" It is similar to the color of the IS-F wheels, a really dark gray metallic. The storm this past weekend bumped everything off a few days so I thought I would get them today but that is not the case. Waiting patiently.
