SSO Slimline vs c4 Low Pro Bumpers

Slowly trying to narrow down my choices in some of my parts for the build. I know i don't want to go full front bumper because of the weight, the prices (Canadian here) and nothing I've seen strikes my eye visually. That leaves me with the C4 low pro winch bumper and the SSO slimline.

Pros? Cons? First hand experience regarding installs?

I am aware of the cutting required. Did anyone pick up a secondary front bumper just in case?

I went with SSO ( C4 was not out at the time) and I prefer the cleaner lines of the SSO. The C4 seems not to stick out as much but I don't think the SSO has an "underbite" appearance so meh wouldn't matter to me but some have pointed that out.

The cutting is very straightforward, no need for a second (back up) bumper

My only slight disappointment has been the powder coat, there are a few thin spots on the hoop top that have started to show and around the hoop welds - nothing serious but it will need attention with time. BUT the front end is a hard place to have PC hold up.

Interesting. Same here. In fact, ~1.5" of powdercoat flaked off on both corners from new.

I was just never motivated enough to do something about it (and to make matters worse I scraped off some p/c on my Gobi rack. But hey. Now they match!)

Yes, best group buy on that bumper yet..up to 25% but only taking 25 orders..If I didn't have one, I'd be all over that

Wow, thanks! I was looking at ordering in the next few weeks and never check the group buy section. Just stopped over thanks to your link and will have saved about $450 if it hits 25% with the 30" Baja designs I also got.

SSO's powder coating is sub par at best. Not happy with my rear bumper's powder coating at all. If you go with SSO just have them send it bare metal and find a good powder coater locally.

I got SSO sliders and had them coated locally. The sliders are made very nice and the coating came out great. The biggest problem I see is the shipping. A lot of PC items get damaged when shipped. I think its best to take care of coating locally. I got in on the C4 slimline group buy and I will be returning to the same coater. He applied a Zinc primer coat and 2 color coats. The zinc primer helps to avoid rust under the PC if there is a chip.

I was in the same boat as you. I reached out to [MENTION=123371]fargo4x4[/MENTION]. He had some great input and experience with both.
