Stage 4 rust cancer...

Well, stopped by a shop to have my rust situation checked out.... And was pretty much told that it's beyond repair and has about a year to live.... On the driver sidr the rust reaches from the body mount forward of the crossmember to about 4 feet back. And about 90% of the bottom is rusted through or darn close.... The outside of the frame is also very rusty about 90% from bottom to top and spotty rust through in the same area.
Uhm I'm pretty sad about the situation and am unsure of what I can do and what do I do.... The body is in fair condition with almost no rust and a few minor imperfections. I'm sitting at 124xxx miles and would really like to keep her on the road as long as possible but cost is imperative...
Does anyone know how costly it would be to have a frame section removed and replaced? Or would I be better off purchasing a new to me 4runner and putting my lower mileage motor in and parting out what's left

I have very seriously considered a frame swap. But that involved transferring EVERYTHING over which could be a PITA

And yes I know it is useless. I shall go snapshot while I reinstall my driveshaft

if it was me, and I had the time/sentimental attachment, I'd look for a junk yard wreck and grab the frame. take it home and do it myself.

granted, I'd first make sure the frame is safe and perfect.

Damn, too bad you're not closer. I have an entire rolling frame with no body. California truck so not a single spot of rust. Cancer would be gone.

Surprisingly shipping a car from Illinois to AZ was $430, maybe find a cheaper truck trailer... You never know.

Edit: it was my dad's 1940 160 Packard that he shipped in an enclosed trailer.

I'd look into a frame swap. Either driving down somewhere rust free like Cali or even down here in the south which wouldn't be nearly as far. My truck is 14 years old and has no rust on the underside except for the normal surface spots along the welds and stuff. Or see if someone like COB would be willing to ship it.

The top of the crossmember runs all the way up the right side of the frame and that section is still fairly strong, which is where the one year number is coming from. If that wasn't there I'd be at the lot looking at trucks right now.

Holy crap! That's worse than my jeep was when I got it and I shouldn't have saved that POS. Frame swap all the way I should've done it with my jeep but opted to patch it and replace sections of it which I will never ever do again

Definitely will! I'll shoot you an friend request and stuff on here.
If I do frame swap, I'd be going with a lift, and motor swap(possibly) buy idk yet, need to figure some things out. And see how long it lasts as it is.
The frame wasn't this bad but over the past two months it has deteriorated a LOT.

You needed to stop by a shop to see how bad that was? Pretty sure you could have came to the same conclusion in your driveway.

Well, I knew how bad it was, I was just seeing if the guy was THAT good. That would most likely end up being what happens. But I will need a daily in that case.
