stain underneath and won't go into gear

I have a 2007 sport with a v6 4wd and 140k miles. I don't drive it much (3-5 times a month) as I have a company vehicle that I drive daily. I've only had it about a year and put about 4k miles on it.

It snowed good a couple weekends ago and I go it out and drove it to the gas station a couple miles away, put it in 4wd. When I went to back it into its spot it didn't want to go, so I pulled out of the driveway and it didn't want to go in forward much better but I got it back into its spot. I went to start it and see what it was up to this weekend and it won't go anywhere really now and I found a fairly large stain underneath it on the concrete, about 2ft by 2ft. I'm pretty sure its transfluid, its dark and slimey but doesn't seem like engine oil. I didn't check the engine oil yet. I got codes p0771, p0894, p2714.

I'm thinking maybe there is broken tranmission cooler line and that caused the fluid to leak out and that why it won't go in to gear, but IDK, that's I'm asking.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, those are all transmission related codes, and while individually they point to various component failures, taken together with the large stain underneath tells me that, as you've surmised, you've lost a significant portion of the transmission fluid. It only takes a couple of quarts low before the torque converter won't engage properly, and the vehicle won't move. Good news is that typically happens well before you're too low on fluid to cause major damage.

Any idea what I good place to start looking for a leak is? Am I on the right track with a cooler line or the cooler itself maybe? The stain does seem to be pretty far forward.

Start up front with the cooler lines that go to / from the radiator. I know those have been failure (rust) points for others.
