Stall after hard acceleration

I've searched and followed the suggestions of cleaning MAF, TB, I was unable to remove the IACV. I adjusted idle as well. After TB/MAF cleaning, I reset the ECU.

After the cleaning the T4R doesn't stall immediately like it use to. But none the less it still stalls. Any other suggestions? How long is the re-learn for the ecu? I don't think it's that long.

Mine did that for a bit, so i checked all my vacuum lines and found that I had a small vacuum leak and needed to retorque my throttle body. After that, no more hard acceleration stalling.
 
After my hard pipe intake install, if I get into it really hard and left off real fast it will stall out. I did the cleanings, and vacuum checks and its better but I still get a stall out. No issues on stock air box.
 
I just did the throttle body cleaning and MAF cleaning last night. Still get the stalls though. If those are the only solutions then I might have to check the vacuum lines then.
 
How, exactly did you adjust the idle? It's controlled by the ECU.

the stopper screw on the throttle body. It stops the rotor in a certain position. It's a allen head screw with an 8mm nut to hold it in place. It was threadlocked from the factory. I simply pushed the screw further in against the rotor stop plate. The ecu did compensate though. I had to funk around with it for a bit. I used an 8mm socket and an allen wrench through the socket with no ratchet attached to adjust. You can't get an open end wrench in there.
 
I think you need to put that adjustment back to where it was. The ECU will always be fighting with it. I'd get that IAC off and clean it. If that doesn't do it maybe a TPS issue. What year is your runner?
 
It's a 1997. Yeah I'm thinking I'm gonna return it to previous setting. I tried to get the iacv off but I was stripping the screw heads. So I'm gonna do it again when I buy some replacement screws.

I did spray some TB cleaner in there though.
 
Caveats and addendums: I am not an expert, or even reasonably knowledgeable. These are just my observations on my '96 Runner.

I had a lot of trouble with stalling after hard acceleration, even when the acceleration was hours before. In the process of being taught basic routine maintenance I discovered that the spark plugs were single ground plugs. My truck mandated double ground plugs via a sticker on the engine block. After switching to double ground plugs the power and fuel economy both improved.
Additionally stalling after hard acceleration has nearly stopped. Very rarely will the truck stall after hard acceleration any more.

So I removed the IACV and cleaned it thoroughly. It wasn't too bad in there. I need to double check my TPS voltage to make sure I put that screw back in properly. And I need to check vacuum lines.

It's not stalling after hard acceleration but the idle drops very low. Like 500 rpm and feels like the motor wants to stall.
 
I am having a hard time figuring out what voltage the TPS is suppose to be at 0% opening. The FSM explains resistance but not output voltage.

The reason I am trying to figure this out is because I adjusted the throttle plate stop screw and cannot seem to get the truck to idle correctly. Sometimes it would be fine, sometimes too low, sometimes too high. It's all over the place.

I thought adjusting that screw would adjust baseline idle but I was wrong and need to fix it lol.
 
Found the answer.

FSM says Voltage output calculated as percentage. 0% = 0 volts; 100% = 5 volts.

Normal condition, fully closed = 7%-11% (0.35-0.55 volts); fully open = 65%-75% (3.25-3.75 volts).

The values in the parenthesis I derived myself. I will try this out today.

JayRolla, so after putting your intake back to stock this completely solved your stalling issue? I have a bit of a stalling issue myself and I have a hard pipe as well (Airraid Jr.)

I never reinstalled like I planned but on stock air box I was fine. This was before the intake install. I would not think the airraid would cause an issue though. I have an entire hard pipe with cone filter. Entire stock box is gone. I have not had much stalling since those few times so Im really not sure what was causing it.
