Because my iPhone sucks I'm keeping this short till i get to a computer. Anyways when I shift my 2wd auto v6 into nutral it stalls I can start in in any gear but he main issue is it stalling in nutral. More later I got a video on YouTube somewhere look up 4runner stalling in nutral or seething but this is really being a pain in the azz with having a broken ignition switch and having to jump the starter relay.

It works fine in any gear runs like stink in a breeze I can be driving along and stick it into nutral and soon as I do it died and I'm left coasting.

When it stalls does it restart in neutral? Does it die when yo put it in park? Are you sure your ignition switch is bad? Could it possible be your P/N safety switch? Does it idle ok when in gear at a stop? Sorry for all the question's there are just a lot of variables involved here.

Ignitin switch doesn't make it to start anymore Ijust got a push button to take care of that. It runs fine there are no vacuumed leaked I can star it in nutral but if it's running and say I go from reverse to drive soon as it hits the nutral position the engine gets cut off just like turning it off with the key. I can star the engine in gear now. Like yesterday I started it in drive.

You say you put in a push button start? Could it be that its not wired correctly and thats causing your problem?

I dinr see how a button powering a relay has any possible way of cutting all power to the enging. All the button does is bypass the 2 start wires that are usually controlled by the key. In other words the button only takes place of the start position on the ignition.

Any vehicle with an auto trans should not be able to be started in anything but neutral or park as far as I know. I bet your push button setup is confusing it.

I took the negative terminal off for a day while I was at my Frieda for a Friday night drink and it's working now. I will post the video when I get home.

I don't know how you have it wired or what, but this seems a more likely cause. Electrical things can do some weird stuff. And you say when it goes to neutral then the car shuts off like if turning it off by the key, and you aren't using a key, it just seems like that would be the direction I would be checking. Does your key have the transponder? You have that in range of the key cylinder?

i guess i cant upload a video

so here is the link

Stalling a automatic - YouTube

I was trying to go from reverse to drive but soon as it gets to neutral nothing didnt even make it to drive. That was before I had my button hooked up and had to fiddle with the key for a couple of minutes till it cought the start position.
