Stalling out, won't idle

I had a problem the other day with my runner not idling

I was driving at about 65 for 10-15 miles and let up off the gas coming to a red light. As soon as I let up off the gas and the rpm's dropped it shut off.

It would not start unless I gave it gas and would not stay running unless I kept it at about 1,000 rpm's after doing this for about 5 miles (stopping 4-5 times) it cleared up and is running fine again

any ideas ??

keeep in mind I do have 226,000 on it now

More than likely your throttle body is severly gummed up and/or your IAC valve (idle air control) is failing
