stand alone screen as indash?

hey guys
really want to install nav/dvd into my t4r

wondering if anyone has ever taken a standalone screen
like a 6.5'' from alpine + a nav system brain and installed
it indash by mounting it?

If so how did you pull it off - was it difficult?
Motivation to do this is that the stand alone screens
are much cheaper than the 2 din systems out there.
