Starter Question

I've searched all over and haven't found something that replicates my issue.

I have a 2006 Limited 4WD V8 with under 100k miles. One night, my mom and nephew stayed while I ran inside Home Depot and left the accessory mode on. As a result, I heard the Click, Click, Click. Today, I turned it over for appx 2-3 min in accessory to check the gas gauge while filling up. Then, click click click. What gives? It never hesitates, hot or cold doesn't matter. Even if you start it and shut it off and restart it a minute later(forget something in the house). It's pretty unusual so it leads me to the starter, but then i've read that so few people have had an issue with the starter on the V8. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Sounds more like a weak battery. I have one with just under 200k with no problems on the starter.

My bet is bad battery or loose battery cables.

Nope, does not sound like a starter issue. Are you still using the original factory PANASONIC battery? If so, it sounds like it is finally giving up the ghost. My original Panasonic battery (from 2005) finally died last year. Still, 10 years is pretty damned impressive for a battery. GOOD LUCK!
