Starter Took a Dump

05 v6 sr5 4wd Starter took a Dump today Called toyota ..100,000 mile warranty they Picked it up and then dealer said it may or maynot be covered ??/ anyone ever use their warranty for something like this ? My first toyota malfunction ...Ever Had them new since 1980 !!!
I ll find out tommorrow what the warranty says ! 53,000 miles by the way.

Well They gave me some Answer to the effect of No ! its not under warranty..they told me 600.00 bucks ! I said what is the 100,000 waranty for then ..Told me motor , trans,axles.

Tell them thats BS. I just replaced a starter on a 85 f250 and didn't cost more than 100 bucks.

It looks super labor intensive... Exhaust and steering shaft need to be moved to gain access. On an '05 that's seen even occasional snow that means broken bolts etc.

Per mitchell it calls for 1.1 hours to replace the starter on a v6 4wd. so let say they have 100/hr rate thats about a 500 dollar starter. just make sure they dont put a reman one on there. be glad its not a v8 it call for 4 hours and you have to take the intake off.
