i know it's been done a thousand times but do you really mind looking at another lift thread? :cheers:


anyway, i have an '05 sport (which i believe has the XREAS setup, right?) and and i'm looking to replace that suspension with a proper 3" lift. spacers alone won't cut it as i'm looking for the ground clearance to go along with it.

do you guys know anything about this kit? FJ Cruiser/4Runner Ultimate 3" lift package - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits

it's just what i found after a quick search. will it replace my XREAS? is it a good setup? should i run a spacer in addition? i know i see some of you guys running spacers to level it out. any other options in addition to the one from toytech?

yes, it will replace the xreas, & is a very good lift & well worth the money. something like an icon, swayaway, etc. are great also but slightly more $. an OME is very good too, less $ but not front end adjustable. id suggest one of these three, it just depends on what you want to spend. thanks, i saw that OME kit but read it as OEM and didn't even look at what it actually was. for the price, it looks very appealing. i don't meed really coilovers as i don't plan on adjusting it at all. thanks for the feedback.

Save_Alkaline, I have a set of full OME suspension, springs = 884 & Toytec Superflex and shocks = N140s & N71E New Nitrocharger Sport shocks. I bought it for a little over $800. I put them on my 06 4Runner for a week, then I took them off due to I traded my 4runner in for a Pilot. They look just like brand new . If you want them, I am willing to settle for $500.
 
So my question becomes, naturally, can one "upgrade" from a non XREAS suspension to an XREAS suspension without too much trouble? What are the factors to consider? Are there any extra components (electrical or otherwise) that come with the XREAS not already included with an '05 limited?

The reason I ask, is, save_alkaline, if you're going to upgrade, would you be willing to part with your XREAS ??

I have a 3" spacer lift from toytec and love it but will be getting the adj. coils up front as soon as i get some funds in order. You will be very happy with the toytec lift! Toytec has the best customer service I've ever dealt with
 
+1 on the ToyTec 3" Ultimate. Order it, install it, forget about it. it's awesome.

X-REAS is all mechanical, no electronics involved. You can purchase a X-REAS system used, as long as it's removed properly with the shocks and lines disconnected at the correct locations and install it in your 4Runner. I haven't seen anyone do this before, so you may be the first.

From what I've read folks who upgraded to Icon Vehicle Dynamics (IVD, formerly Donahoe Racing) coil overs, shocks and springs say it rides and handles better than X-REAS.

If you are planning to buy used, just keep in mind that there really isn't any way to remove the existing X-REAS hydraulic lines without bending them out of shape (or at least i couldn't see a way).

I wouldn't recommend installing X-REAS with so many great options out there. As someone who upgraded from X-REAS to ICON, i can tell you first hand that i don't miss X-REAS at all. my rig handles so much better. soaks up bumps with ease and stays pretty flat around corners.

nobody go that route, it can be done but almost imposible with remove all the parts and dealing with hydraulic, and i believe nobody will go that way either since xreas will get bad anyway.
