"State" Edition Trucks?

Hey everyone!

I just have a quick question. I live in Texas, and there's definitely a ton of proud Texans down here. In Texas we have "Texas Edition" trucks such as the Silverado, Sierra, F150, Dodge Ram, Titan and of course the Tundra. I've never really traveled to any other state to notice this but does any other state have this or is Texas that "special"? Basically, do ya'll have any "state" edition trucks? I've wondered for a long time....

I'm absolutely proud of being Texan and this I think gives us bragging rights for being the coolest state. :]

Note* The Sierra and Silverado have the same badge.

There are some regions of the country where the Toyota distributor makes up their own option package by adding a set of aftermarket accessories to the car. The "X-SP 4Runner" is an example of that, and it even has custom X-SP badging.

That said, I haven't heard of a special package named for a certain state.

What's on a Texas Tundra that makes it different, besides the badging?
 
State Edition Trucks


They've done the same thing here. Ford or Chevy (forget which) used to make the "Virginian" version back in the 1990s - basically a decal package with a nice cargo bed. Another package (not sure of the brand) featured a two-tone blue & gray paint scheme (but not anything similar to what our state police have), but I don't remember what it was called.

Dodge currently sells a "Big Horn" edition, but I don't know if that is exclusive to Virginia.

I'm waiting for a "Robert E. Lee Commemmorative Edition F-150" that would be orange with a big Confederate Battle Flag on the roof. Oh, wait; that idea was already taken.

2 words for you...."sales gimmick!" The car companies would call one the rooty tooty fresh n fruity edition if they knew itd translate into sales. Granted up here in Boston we dont have any names or special editions, but hey, if it
makes you proud to own one, then good for you.

Actually, every few years you see a "Patriot Edition" which I think comes from Ford.

I know I will damned sure not buy a vehicle with the "Massachusetts Edition" on it. Ugh!

I'm not exactly sure about the new generations, but in 1st gen, the Texas Edition came with..
-20" Polished chrome wheels
-Leather seats
-A unique type of console...
-TX Edition floor mats
-Stainless steel exhaust tips
-Tow package
-Chrome sidesteps/nerfbars
-Fender flares
-And of course the badging.

Basically, the "Texas Edition" for all these trucks are just packages put together with maybe a few "aftermarket" parts that make it unique.
 
Yeah... Dodge has a California edition. Ford and Chevy may have the same. I don't know what makes a CA edition other than the badging... Maybe more restrictive emissions to satisfy the Birkenstock-wearing tree-hugging hippies that we have in this state who would rather everyone ride bikes and prohibit women from shaving their armpits.

i know ford produced an "amarillo edition" diesel for a couple of years....could one get it in that goofy yellow color, and it had certain stuff inside.

at least from what i remember.
 
Toyota doesn't actually make any "state edition" vehicles, it is only done by privately owned Toyota regions. XS-P 4Runners are unique to the region South East Toyota and this Texas Tundra is done by Gulf States Toyota. The other ten regions all have the same packages available as they are owned by Toyota, not a private company.
 
VW has (or had) a CA edition for the Beetle. I remember seeing a commercial for it a while back. How much more $$ is the "Texas Edition" compared to a normal truck with the same basic features. Is it like the TRD packages where you get like $1000-$1500 worth of stuff for like $4000?
 
I really dont like "Texas" edition trucks. just my opinion but they have cheesy chrome and ugly badges and don't get me started with the rims. To answer the question about the TRD stuff. the Texas edition is even worse with TRD you get function like those Bilstein shocks decals, etc But with the Texas edition you get stuff like the Chrome grill, carpet, badges, and other things and pay 1000-3000 dollars and if you go to like advance auto parts, autozone and other similar places and its only a few hundred dollars. but hey its your money if you wanna show your state pride go right ahead I do when I go to school.
 
Skyline is pretty much right.

The new Tundras dont have a Texas Edition, it was only the older one. Basically they're just options in a package that might be a little more unique. I'm sure you can buy a badge off Ebay and call it a "Texas Edition". But just having that option in Texas is pretty cool IMO.

Yeah like I said its a state pride kinda thing. Theres nothing wrong with that, hell I love my state. expect for the speed limits. :lol: you know what I just remember that there are also state college themed trucks as well. I saw a few of them on ebay.
 
Well my 3rd gen is a "California Edition" but it doesn't have any badging, the only difference is it has two cats instead of one.
 
None of that here in Utah, but when the Olympics were here a few dealers made "Olympic Edition" packages, pretty much just a sticker. The Big Horn edition Dodge makes isn't specific to any one area, I see them all the time here.

Sarcasm on the speed limit? When I was in Texas EVERYTHING was 70 mph. The interstate to the one lane roads lol.
 
We've got Oklahoma State Edition trucks and they pretty much go along w/ what the Texas members said. Extra chrome, floor mats, etc...nothing too exciting
