Last weekend I finally steam cleaned the interior of our 05' 4r. The previous owner was clearly a smoker, and although the smell had faded away several months ago, in my mind, the cloth seats seemed dirty. They didn't look dirty, but I just had that feeling in my head that they were. So, I used my Bissell Little Green Machine steam cleaner, which is simply an entry model of the bissell spot-bot machines. Just a hand-wand attachment.
Well, all I can say is.... NASTY! I thought the interior looked clean before, but after cleaning just the passenger's front seat, the dirty water looked like freakin' Hot Chocolate! It was so groose, I was stunned! Every seat in the car produced the same results...dark brown water, so dark that light could barely shine through. I even pointed one of my laser pointers through it, and it too failed to come through.
Now? The seats are actually shiney. The little squares in the fabric pattern that shine, now shine. The fabric is fluffy, soft, and the car actually has a new car smell again. It's truely amazing what a difference that cleaner with just hot water made on the car. I don't use the cleaning solution, just hot tap water. Worked like a charm! I do recommend if anyone is going to do this, to wait for a sunny day. After you're done, open all the windows, and sunroof if you've got one, and park it in the sun. It took about 90 minutes for the entire car to completely dry.
