steel wheel questions

so i want some pro comp black steel wheels but they arent hub centric... so i was thinking if i get them and get some wabfab 1.25 non hub centric wheel spacers this would solve the problem... am i correct??? thanks in advance

scratch the pro comps, i want black rocks for a way better deal... still not hub centric so i wanna know if my theory would work

You will need to change out the lug nuts to conical ones, even then it may shake a bit. If the center hole bore is big enough these may help: http://www.1010tires.com/hubrings.asp

You will be relying on the lugs to center the wheel rather than the center hub. It's not better or worse, just different.

okay and what size of those rings??? and would i really need those rings cause if i just get the wab fab spacers the lugs will center the wheel.. is this right?? i think im asking the same questions as before i just want to be sure sorry

awesome thanks if i do decide on the wheels ill definitly get yalls 1.25 spacers...gotta sleep on it for a couple of days dont just want to blow it and regret it

Lots of myths about needing hub centric wheel spacers...not necessary at all if you install your wheel spacers properly and with the right flip socket.

okay i a noob when it comes to tools sorry... using the flip socket, is that like a torque wench where u can set the amount of torque or am i completely wrong??? sorry

Also, keep in mind that steel wheels are much worse than aluminum wheels about being out of balance. So, if you are hacing trouble getting them to balance or one requires a LOT of weight, then you might want to check the wheel without the tire...

Steel rims bend instead of breaking like aluminum ones do.
New steel rims will be fine. Used ones might have been beat on. I've had DOZENS of steel and aluminum rims and never found one out of round...tires are another story.

Yes, of course aluminum is a brittle metal and will tend to break easier than a steel wheel. However, steel wheels are stamped and can have inconsistencies. A machined/billet aluminum wheel is not only lighter, but the manufacturing process will result in a more consistent wheel.

That said, I own both steel and aluminum wheels. The steel are on my off road only vehicle. When I first got them, the shop had a helluva time balancing one tire...so they threw the wheel on the machine and found that it was the problem.

I have beat on my steel wheels and they have held up well.
