steering wheel covers

anyone familiar with wheelskins steering wheel covers?

i poked through the leather on my steering wheel and am looking for a quality steering wheel cover. it seems like wheelskins (http://www.wheelskins.com/) has the market cornerned - just curious if anyone has ever heard of them or used them.

other suggestions are always welcome as well.

They look nice but how much are they? You may be better off buying a used one. And if you have to sew-up the Wheelskins yourself that may be a chore to get it to look perfect and tight.

I bought one for my g/f's car because her rubber steering wheel was starting to dry out and crack. I was very impressed with the quality of it and will probably buy one for my mom's van this week. They are a little pricey purchasing directly from them, so I'd go through ebay. The install takes a while because you're literally having to 'sew' it on, but if you do it right, it is probably the closest thing to a factory leather wrapped steering wheel you can get.

I have got a wheelskin in mine. The sewing was very easy...just time consuming. Took me about hour.

I have the euro two tone grey/black. It was $39 shipped and looks OEM. The grey matches the interior perfectly. Top notch product that has held up very well for over a year now.

just put a black one on my '98 4runner. They are GREAT....recommend them to anyone who needs a "new" looking steering wheel. They really do take time to install....but doenst everything on a car?? Its well worth it... i got mine on autobarn.com for like $32 i think...

I installed one in my previous 05 4Runner, I got the Charcoal color and it matched perfectly to the interior. I couldn't stand driving around in the cold with a hard plastic steering wheel. With the somewhat thick leather, it made my steering wheel a bit beefier than before but I loved it, felt like a sportscar, like my first car a Honda Prelude. The installation was time consuming, easy, and got a blister on the side of my pinky due to pulling hard on the thread to get that nice tight fit, perhaps wear a rubber glove to remedy this. I have only one complaint on this product, on rainy days or wet snowy days, an ounce of precipitation on the leather will create this grainy, peely feel when driving. Hard to explain but maybe you will understand once installed or even maybe not. Other than that, it is the next closest thing to factory, and far superior than the product most seen in "elderly owned and driven vehicles" with that fake leather wrap with holes and not stitched but wrapped with a long strand of plastic string.
