Steering Wheel Vibration

@ 3K I took it in and dealer said they balanced the tires.
And it fixed the worst symptoms.
@ 7K same issue again.
Took it in.
At first with out driving they checked the balance and said it was fine.
I took it back next day asking them to test drive. They admitted the issue.
It's been two days now truck's in the shop. They said they replaced the front tires and vibration didn't go away.
They were waiting on new set to replace the rears as well.
I am told tires will be comparable to the ones it had originally.
Also paid by service.

Like I said, I bought it new and its been doing this since it had only ~2Kmiles.
Current mileage is ~7K.

Anybody with similar problem?


Truck is 07 SE 4x4 with dunlop tires.

It's the dunlops..... I had the same issue. I have had no problems with the Revo's.

its back again

dealer replaced all four tires with new dunlop at20s.
after 300miles of driving, i started to feel the vibration again.
i am taking it back to dealer next week.
i am not 100% sure but from what i've read so far, these dunlops don't have good reputation. So if same happens to any of you, insist on getting something different, even if you have to pay additional for better tires.

Great frustration; takes away from enjoying my vehicle.

Do any 2wd T4R owners suffer from this?

Folks not so jokingly call them DunFlops here. I'm surprised they risked even mounting another set -- probably were new car take off when someone said I'll buy the car but without the DunFlops. Even though its a nearly brand new I'd be willing to pay extra to get quality tire (Michelin or BFG). Amazingly there are folks that pushed the DunFlops over 40k - I got a little less than 30k and they still had a years worth of wear left - but were out of balance.

Read the above info. Same info applies to 4th gen. I agree the Dunlops are not the best, but they should still balance out. Make sure the dealer is doing their diligence.

I have a 04 2wd and I just had this problem. I rotated the tires and away it went.

i had the exact same problem apperantly t4rs are know to build up rust on the brake rotors. the steering wheel vibrates because the rust expands and sets off the rotor. just take them in to get them turned and the problem shoud go away

So wouldn't the surface rust rub off after a few miles? Mine are shiny silver after a few miles. I thinks it low quality tires and maybe a less than stellar balancing job. Note that a special adapter is needed to balance them corectly. Tire take a set (flat spot) over night especially in cold weather - that affects ride the for first 10 miles or so too. Switch to a quality tire like Michelin and you'll notice a totally different ride.
