Steering wheel with audio controls...

Can a steering wheel with audio controls simply be bolted onto a 4Runner that doesn't have them?

I guess my questions should really be, does the wiring and such pre-exist for the controls. That's one of the options that didn't come with my truck...

Yes, but you will need a new airbag assembly as the airbag cover is different for models with steering wheel controls. There are several model Toyotas and Lexus that use the same steering wheel cover, 2005+ Tacoma is one for sure.

Here's a similar thread, not exactly, but it has some information of what's involved. j0mama had a Canadian 4Runner, which does not have the nav option. He added nav and the other half of the steering wheel controls. Hopefully, this gives you some insight on what's required.

If you accomplish adding the controls, please post. I'm sure there are others looking to do the same thing.
